National Lottery celebrates Irish groups who are making huge strides in the promotion of the Irish language

The National Lottery is all about enhancing people’s lives, not just for those who win but for everyone in society. So, by playing our games, the people of Ireland help to create a better society through raising much-needed funds for Good Causes in the areas of sport and recreation, national culture, heritage, the Irish language, the arts, health, community, youth, and the natural environment.

Since the National Lottery was founded over 33 years ago, more than €5.8 billion has been raised for Good Causes all over Ireland. Some of this funding is making a significant impact on organisations and groups that strive to promote the Irish language at home and abroad, to advance our native tongue to everybody in society.

To celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge in 2021, the National Lottery is proud to shine a light on a number of inspiring organisations throughout the country whose sole purpose is to foster, promote and to grow the Irish language through clever and ground-breaking initiatives with the help of Good Causes funding.

The National Lottery has also encouraged community groups or projects who promote the Irish language through their work to apply for Good Causes funding from An Roinn Turasóireachta, Cultúir, Ealaíon, Gaeltachta, Spóirt agus Meán by visiting, www.chg.gov.ie.
