Introduce Gift Responsibly Campaign
This year the National Lottery is introducing a Gift Responsibly Campaign to raise awareness about the risks of underage lottery play during the busy Christmas gifting period. This is a global campaign supported by the World Lotteries Association, of which the National Lottery is a member.
The Gift Responsibly Campaign is spearheaded by the American National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG) and the International Centre for Youth Gambling Problems and High-Risk Behaviours at McGill University in Canada. The National Lottery together with the World Lottery association encourages our players to Gift Responsibly and is reminding our players to keep lottery play for those who are aged 18 years and older.
Lottery tickets are not child’s play, early gambling experiences, including lottery play may be a risk factor for later problem gambling. The Gift Responsibly Campaign provides a timely reminder to parents and other adults that lottery tickets and scratch cards are not appropriate gifts for children under the age of 18.
The National Lottery has incorporated a Gift Responsibly logo across our Christmas themed products. Players will see this campaign featuring on our in-store point of sale material, on our TV advertisements and particularly on social media, where the National Lottery will be reminding our players to gift responsibly.
We ask all of our players and the wider public to support this campaign and please remember when you are purchasing any National Lottery product as a gift, whether at Christmas or any time of the year, it is always important to ‘Gift Responsibly’.
Play responsibly, play for fun and gift responsibly this Christmas.
