Tipperary woman claims €200,000 top prize on Scratch Card

A Tipperary woman was delighted to visit Lottery Headquarters to collect a cheque worth €200,000 after winning the top prize on a €10 All Cash Spectacular Scratch Card.

The winning ticket was purchased at the XL Killenaule Express on Bailey Street in Killenaule, Co Tipperary.

While sitting in the Winners Room, the Premier County winner admitted that she did not realise just how much she had won initially.

“I had myself convinced that I’d won €20,000. It wasn’t until I was on the phone with the Prize Claims team and they asked me if I was sitting down. I’ll never forget the man on the end of the line telling me, it wasn’t a €20,000 win, it was €200,000! I immediately texted and called family with a few of them even accusing me of lying – they couldn’t believe it!”

Ever since scratching the top prize amount, the Tipperary woman has been keeping the ticket as safe as possible.

“Oh, I changed the hiding place quite a few times. First, I had it in the car, then the wardrobe and I even slept with it under my pillow one night. I am currently saving for a house so the win will go towards that and hopefully booking a holiday soon.”

Store manager Lorraine McCarthy said there was great excitement in the community following the win.

“The store is coming up to its ten-year anniversary and what a way to mark it. There was a huge buzz amongst all of us in the shop when the news broke. It’s great to hear that one of our customers has come into such a big windfall – we wish them all the very best with their win.”

Meanwhile, tonight’s Lotto Jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €7.8 Million.
