What is an Annuity?

An Annuity is a regular capital payment managed through an Annuity Policy which provides for a regular payment, for example a monthly payment over a prolonged period.

Which Prizes are paid as an Annuity Prize?

Tier 1 and Tier 2 Prizes are paid as an Annuity Prize.

Can I claim the Top Prizes as a lump sum?

No, under normal circumstances Tier 1 and Tier 2 Prizes will only be paid as an Annuity, except in very rare circumstances as set out in the Game Rules (see Prize Cap section below).

Are the Annuity Prizes tax free?

Yes, an Annuity Prize is a National Lottery Prize and therefore the regular payments are tax free for the recognised individual winner for the duration of the policy (please note this is subject to the applicable tax laws in force)

Why EuroDreams is not suitable for syndicates?

The nature of the Annuity Prize means that only one winner is recognised and only one Annuity Policy created in that winner’s name. PLI will recognise one winner and the Prize paid to that winner is tax free. Consequently, the EuroDreams Game is not suitable for syndicate Play.

What happens if the Top Prize is not won?

If a Top Prize is not won, it does not roll over as the Top Prize is a fixed Prize.

Why, on some Draws, is Tier 6 Prize less than €2.50?

Under normal circumstances the prize for Tier 6 is fixed at €2.50.  If however the parimutuel Prize value for Tier 5 in a given Draw is less than the fixed prize for Tier 6 (for example this may occur if there were an exceptionally large number of winners at Tier 5), then the full value of the Prize fund allocated for both Tiers will be added and then divided by the total number of winners across both Tiers. See Game Rules for full details on Prize allocations.

What documents do I need to claim an Annuity Prize?

Any winner of a Tier 1 or Tier 2 Prize in any given Draw will be invited to attend a Ticket validation meeting with the National Lottery’s Claims team and Annuity Broker. The Claims team will advise in advance of the meeting the documents required and will assist the winner with the claims process and how the winner will enter into a contract with the Annuity Provider.

What happens to the Prize money left in the Annuity if a winner dies during the term of the Annuity?

If a winner dies during the term of the Annuity, the winner’s estate will receive a lump sum payment equal to the full sum of the Prize, less any payments already made under the policy. If the winner dies after he or she has already received the full cost of the policy in monthly payments, no payment will be made to the estate.

What is the Dream Number for?

The Dream Number is only applicable for Tier 1 Prizes – in all other cases the Dream Number is not applicable so if you match 3 numbers or 3 numbers and the Dream Number, the Prize value is the same.

What are Prize Caps?

EuroDreams is a game of chance and there may be occasions where there are multiple winners of the Tier 1 or Tier 2 Prizes in a given Draw.

An overall limit of €21.6 million will apply to the total Tier 1 Prize Fund for any individual EuroDreams game. In the event there are more than three (3) Tier 1 Winners, this amount will be distributed equally amongst all winners in Tier 1 for that Draw and paid as a lump sum payment to each winner.

An overall limit of €1.44 million will apply to the total Tier 2 Prize Fund for any individual EuroDreams game. In the event there are more than twelve (12) Tier 2 Winners, this amount will be distributed equally amongst all winners in Tier 2 for that Draw and paid as a lump sum to each winner. For full details on Prize Caps and Allocation of Prizes please see Game Rules.
