How to resolve location accuracy issues on Android devices

Allow App to Access Your Location

After the installation of the National Lottery app, the first time you go to play a game, you will be asked to allow the app to have access to your location. This is because only users in the Republic of Ireland are allowed play our games. To play, you must select “Allow”.

However, if you are receiving this error message (shown below) after allowing the application access to your location, you should check if the phone has the correct permissions allowed for the app.

To do this:

  1. Open the phone’s settings. (Seen here in the menu on the top right)
  2. Step 1 - Open phone's settings

  3. And then navigate to the “Apps” menu
  4. Step 2 - Navigate to Apps menu

  5. Find and select the National Lottery application
  6. Step 3 - Select National Lottery App

  7. Select “Permissions”
  8. Step 4 - Select Permissions

  9. Ensure the “Location” option is set to on as shown below.

Check GPS Settings

If the location error message still persists however, you may need to set your GPS to high accuracy.

To do this:

  1. Go the phone’s settings.
  2. Step 1 - Go to phone's settings for GPS

  3. Go to the “Connections” menu (or similar) on the phone
  4. Step 2 - Go to Connections

  5. Select the “Location” option
  6. Step 3 - Select Location option

  7. Select “Locating method”
  8. Step 4 - Select Locating method

  9. Ensure the option “High Accuracy” is selected, and not “Device only”.
  10. Step 5 - Ensure High Accuracy is selected

  11. Accept the prompt below. This should now enable the National Lottery App to successfully find your location.
