The Winners Room in Lottery Headquarters has been kept busy this week with winners from all over the country visiting to collect their prizes. A Dublin syndicate were over the moon to claim their Lotto Match 5 + Bonus prize which they won in the 3rd January draw worth €174,706. The winning ticket was purchased at Jay’s Newsagents on Rosemount Avenue in Artane, Dublin 5.
“One of the syndicate members was watching the draw live and ticking off the numbers as they came out. I think she got the surprise of her life! She rang us all immediately to let us know we had won and the next few minutes were spent refreshing the results page on the website to see just how much we had won. As soon as we realised just how much our ticket was worth, it was put straight into a safe and hasn’t been touched since then.”
“One syndicate member is planning to buy a new car, and another is planning a big family holiday. The rest of us are still thinking about what to do but it definitely feels even more real after finally handing over the ticket.”
A Limerick winner claimed the top prize of €45,000 which they won on the online game Digital Ruby & Emerald.
“Initially I thought that I had won €45 – I have never been so happy to be wrong in my life! A holiday in the sun is definitely needed, but my ultimate dream is a little bigger and probably unexpected. I would absolutely love to go on a cruise around Antarctica. That would be the biggest adventure and has always been on my wish list. Now, it’s time to really start planning.”
A Cork man was delighted to visit Lottery Headquarters to pick up a cheque worth €25,000 after winning on a €5 Money Multiplier Scratch Card which he purchased at Costcutters Ballyhea, Charlevile, Co. Cork.
“The only reason I popped into the shop was because I missed my bus – I never would have been in there otherwise. I saw the €25,000 immediately and went straight home to hide the ticket safely on the highest shelf in the kitchen. The first thing I plan to do is a book a summer holiday. Perfect timing!”
Meanwhile, tonight’s Lotto jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €9.2 million.
