20/01/2025
Blue Monday has turned Gold here at National Lottery HQ for our winners who claimed over €100,000 in prizes today!
The January gloom was nowhere to be seen as joyous celebrations filled our winner's room today, as a Cork player collected €55,998, after matching 5 numbers on Friday, 10th January, EuroMillions draw. The player purchased their Quick Pick ticket from SuperValu, Strand Street, Kanturk, Co. Cork.
Speaking with excitement they said: “I usually pick my own numbers; this time I decided to go with a Quick Pick – I am so glad I did! I didn’t know I had won at all. I went back to the same shop to have my ticket checked – when the cashier told me I had won big – my heart sank – it is still yet to sink in”
Beating the January blues was a player from Dublin who won €40,341 matching 5 numbers and the bonus on Saturday, 28th December, main Lotto draw. The ticket was purchased at Shiel’s Londis, Yellow Walls Road, Malahide, Co. Dublin.
Speaking to the National Lottery, the man said: “It was my Dad who realised it was our numbers – when we do play, we always pick our birthdays – this time they all turned up! €40,000 is a great amount to share with family and friends, I have a son and daughter both off to college next year, this will help fund college for both of them.”
Adding to the golden Monday atmosphere in the National Lottery winners' room, was one player from Clare who claimed the €30,000 top prize in the Cashword Doubler Scratch Card. This is the player’s second time winning a high-tier prize on the Cashword Doubler Scratch Card, claiming €15,000 in 2017. The player purchased the Scratch Card in Tierney’s Costcutter, Tulla Road, Ennis, Co. Clare.
Reflecting on his win, the Clare man said: “I scratched the card in the car. When I got home, I said to my wife - ‘We have to go back to Dublin, we’ve won again! This is great news to receive in the New Year as we have a couple of home renovations planned – now we can finally get started.”
This Tuesday's EuroMillions draw rolls to an estimated €85 Million. Players dreaming of becoming Ireland’s newest EuroMillions winner are reminded that tickets for Tuesday’s draw can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at http://www.lottery.ie.
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language.
