A Stop for an Ice-Cream Leads Kerry Player to €1 Million Lotto Plus 1 Win

A Kerry player has claimed the €1 Million Lotto Plus 1 top prize from the Lotto draw on 18 July after a spur-of-the-moment ticket purchase in the sunny seaside village of Portmagee, Co. Kerry. The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold on Thursday 16th July at Deo's Shop and Portmagee Post Office. The winner only decided to buy a ticket while stopping off for an ice cream with a friend.

"If I hadn't been there that day, I probably wouldn't have bought one," they said.

The life-changing win went unnoticed for several days until the player heard a radio report about an unclaimed €1 Million prize sold in Portmagee. "As they called out the details of the store, it all started to sound very familiar," they recalled.

After rushing to find their ticket and realising they were the winner, they shared the news with friends, who "couldn't believe it".

Still coming to terms with the win, the new Millionaire says it "still feels like a dream" and hopes to put the prize towards a new home and perhaps a well-earned trip away.

Dublin Lotto Win

A Dublin player has claimed a €38,199 Lotto Match 5 + Bonus prize after discovering they were one of two players to win the Match 5 + Bonus prize in the Lotto draw on 19 August. The winner secured their share of the prize after purchasing a winning Quick Pick ticket at Spar Rathborne, Unit 5A, Rathborne Place, Ashtown, Dublin 15.

The winner was checking the Lotto results on the night of the draw when they noticed the Match 5 + Bonus prize.

"I remember looking at the results and thinking, 'That's a great prize for someone to win,' never imagining it was me," they said.

"When I checked my ticket later and realised I had matched the numbers, I couldn't believe it. Seeing €38,199 beside my ticket was something else entirely. The timing is brilliant too, as we're about to start some home renovations, so the prize will definitely come in very handy."

Unwilling to give away their secret hiding place for the winning ticket, the player would only reveal that it had been "hidden in plain sight" somewhere in the house until it was time to make their claim.

Dublin EuroMillions Win

A Dublin EuroMillions player got an unexpected surprise while catching up on the Sunday newspapers after discovering they had landed an €18,384 EuroMillions Match 5 prize.

The winner, who purchased their Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw at SuperValu Sundrive, Sundrive Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12, only checked their numbers after spotting an article about recent National Lottery winners.

"I was reading the paper and saw there was a €1 Million prize won in Kerry. Underneath that, it mentioned that someone had won €18,384 in Dublin," they recalled.

Curious, the player pulled out their ticket and began checking the numbers. "I couldn't believe it when I realised it was my ticket they were talking about. It was a lovely surprise and definitely not something I was expecting from a Sunday morning reading the paper."

Despite the sizeable win, the player is keeping the news to themselves for now. "I might hold off on telling the family for now. As soon as they hear about it, I'm sure they'll have plenty of ideas for how to spend it”, they joked.
