Two HUGE wins on the same Drumcondra street in the space of a week!
“The heaviest bit of paper” - Dublin man claims €500,000 in Lottery Headquarters

The EuroMillions game has given players in Dublin lots to celebrate across the past three draws, including two incredible wins occurring on the same Drumcondra street.
Friday’s draw saw a Dublin 9 player scoop the top prize of €500,000 in the Plus draw after they purchased their winning ticket at Centra Drumcondra at 32-38 Lower Drumcondra Road. Store Manager Josh Thornton, was delighted to hear that one of his customers had won big in the weekend draw.
“We’re a busy store here in the heart of Drumcondra with a real mix of both local and passing trade. It’s great to get a call like this from the National Lottery as we love to hear that one of our customers has won big! We already heard that there have been a number of Dublin wins over the past week, so we’re delighted to be a part of that!”
The winner, a Dublin man, who scooped the €500,000 amount, was thrilled to pop into Lottery Headquarters this week to pick up his prize.
“The ticket might look small, but it’s felt like the heaviest bit of paper that I have ever had on me - I mean that in the best possible way! I haven’t let it out of my sight since I realised just how much it was worth. On Sunday, I had another ticket to check so I scanned them both at the same time. It never crossed my mind that I could have won the top prize, so I wasn’t thinking of it at all.”
The winner has already started thinking about what to do with the unexpected windfall.
“I have always wanted to live abroad in another city for an extended amount of time, at least two or three months. Top of my list would be Lisbon or Rome so this could be the perfect time to start thinking about that. The first thing I’ll do though is a few home renovations.”
The Friday night win marked the second incredible prize for Dublin 9 in the space of just a week. On Friday 13th February, another Drumcondra player scooped €1,005,000 in the special EuroMillions Ireland Only Raffle after purchasing their ticket at the Spar store at 122 Drumcondra Road Upper. The two winning stores are located on the same street, just over a mile apart in the centre of Drumcondra.
In between the two Drumcondra wins, a player in Dublin 24 scooped the €500,000 top prize in the Tuesday 17th February EuroMillions Plus draw after purchasing their ticket at Dunnes Stores in the Square Shopping Centre in Tallaght.
Meanwhile, players dreaming of joining in the EuroMillions celebrations are reminded that tonight’s Jackpot is heading towards an estimated €140 Million. Tickets can be purchased in-store, through the app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.30pm cut-off time for sales this evening.
