Dublin Man Planning a HUGE Surprise To Tell Wife About His Midweek €90,224 Lotto Win!
Saturday Night’s Lotto Winner Yet To Come Forward To Claim €53,775
27/01/2026
It’s been a big week for National Lottery players in Dublin with three incredible prizes won across Lotto and EuroMillions.
A Dublin man was delighted to visit Lottery HQ this week to pick up his €90,224 Match 5 + Bonus prize, which he won in last Wednesday’s 21st January draw. The midweek winner admitted that he has kept the news to himself since the win and now has an epic plan underway for how to tell his wife the good news.
“My wife has no idea about this win, and I’m thrilled because I have a big surprise planned for how I will tell her – I’m going to buy her a car! It will be a double surprise with a car and a Lotto win. Who knows how she will react, there could be a lot of emotions! She won’t be expecting this at all, so now that I have my cheque in hand, it’s time to go car shopping.”
The Dublin winner purchased his winning ticket online using the Scheduled Play function. The ticket was purchased a few weeks ago as a multi-draw ticket and the winner also enjoyed a €5 win in a previous draw. When the email came in for this particular prize, the Match 5+Bonus winner did not rush to check how much he had won.
“It was probably two days before I checked my account to see how much I had won – imagine, I had no clue that there was over €90,000 waiting to be claimed. What a way to start my week in the Winners Room, now to get this big surprise planned!”
Another Dublin man was celebrating in Lottery Headquarters after claiming a €31,075 EuroMillions prize from the draw on 23rd January, having matched five numbers with a Quick Pick ticket, purchased at Centra, Coolock Lane, Santry, Dublin 9.
The winner admitted he was not overly familiar with the EuroMillions game and only bought his ticket after a timely nudge from his mum, who mentioned that the Jackpot had climbed to €100 Million.
“I didn’t even know what to ask for when I got to the shop” he laughed. “I just left with a Quick Pick ticket, with no idea what the draw would bring!”
The ticket sat forgotten in the car, until a family member insisted that he check his ticket shortly after the draw. “It popped up saying, 'You’ve won big - contact the National Lottery'. I couldn’t believe it. I actually had to ring a few family members who play more often than I do to doublecheck it for me!”
The winning ticket was carefully kept safe, tucked between his phone and phone case, until he made the trip to National Lottery HQ to claim his prize.
Saturday night’s Lotto draw saw another Dublin player win big after matching five numbers and the bonus in the main draw to win €53,775. The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on the day of the draw at Tuthills in Liffey Valley Shopping Centre. The National Lottery are continuing to urge players to check their tickets carefully as the Saturday night winner is yet to come forward. The winner is advised to sign the back of their ticket and keep it safe. They should make contact with the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for them to visit the Winners Room to collect their prize.
Meanwhile, tonight’s EuroMillions Jackpot is set to roll towards an estimated €110 million. Players dreaming of visiting Lottery HQ to celebrate an incredible win are reminded that tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.30pm cut-off time for sales this evening.
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language.
