Tonight’s €17 Million (est) Lotto Jackpot Will Be the Third Highest of All Time!
Tipperary Player Claims €1 Million Lotto Plus Raffle Prize “I didn’t know what to do with myself!”
27/08/2025
Lotto fever continues to grip the country as tonight’s Lotto Jackpot heads towards an estimated €17 Million. Since the Lotto game launched in 1988, just two Jackpots more than €17 Million has ever been won, which means that a single winner of Wednesday’s Lotto Jackpot could become Ireland’s third largest Jackpot winner in the history of the game.
So far this year, there have been six Lotto Jackpot wins by players in Dublin, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Louth, and Waterford. A potential Jackpot winner tonight would take the title of Ireland’s newest Multi-Millionaire, as well as the 7th Lotto Jackpot winner of 2025.
Emma Monaghan, National Lottery spokesperson, said “**Tonight’s draw could prove truly life-changing for one Lotto player. A single winner could find themselves at number three on the list of the all-time highest Lotto Jackpot winners in Ireland, a highly coveted title! All players are reminded to purchase tickets early, ahead of the 7.45pm cut-off for tonight’s draw. Tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at http://www.lottery.ie**”
The Lotto has been rolling over without a top prize winner since April and is now edging very close to the current Jackpot cap of €19.06 Million, a figure that previously set a record when won by a family syndicate in Co. Mayo in January 2022.
Once the Jackpot exceeds the cap, no more money will be added to the jackpot prize until it is won. The funds that would normally go to the Jackpot, will be distributed to the next lower prize tier at which there are winners (e.g. Match 5 + Bonus prize). If the jackpot is won at an amount higher than €19.06 Million, that amount will become the game’s new Jackpot cap.
See below for a roll call of the current top 3 Lotto Jackpot wins in the history of the game in Ireland.

Meanwhile, a Lotto player from the 5th of July draw has claimed their incredible €1,000,500 prize. The winning ticket for the Lotto Plus Raffle special event was purchased at Ely’s Centra in Clerihan, Co. Tipperary.
Recalling the moment he discovered his win, the player said, “I saw the news online that the winning ticket was bought where I got mine! I scanned it and panic set in - I didn’t know what to do with myself. A family member kept telling me to ‘stay calm’… although it didn’t really help” he laughed.
Now, the winner is looking forward to paying off his mortgage, taking care of his loved ones, and being an avid sports fan, attending his favourite sporting events.
