While Ireland Basks in Sunshine, National Lottery Winners Dream of Even Hotter Getaways
29/05/2026
As Ireland enjoys a welcome spell of sunshine this week, three National Lottery winners are already looking ahead to keeping the good weather going, with plans for holidays, celebrations and big life moments after their recent wins.
Galway Syndicate Fuels Up for a Dream Holiday
A syndicate of four from Galway had plenty to celebrate after stopping off at Applegreen on Tuam Road for fuel and a Lotto ticket on Wednesday, 22nd April, picking up a winning Lotto Plus Two ticket worth €250,000 in the process.
With summer already in the air, the group say their first priority is to keep the sunshine streak alive by booking a well-earned sun holiday abroad.
Louth ‘Bingo Betty’ Wins €35,005 TellyBingo Snowball
A woman from Co. Louth is still coming to terms with her €35,005 TellyBingo Snowball win after an unexpected discovery. The player who bought her ticket at Londis, Yellowbatter, Drogheda, had been watching the TellyBingo show on catch-up later that evening.
“I was oblivious. I only realised when I had three numbers left, then suddenly it was down to just one.” Even then, disbelief lingered. “I still didn’t think it was me. I had to wait until they called out the shop before I was sure.”
Her partner, who jokingly calls her “Bingo Betty” since the win, initially wasn’t convinced either. “I ran up to tell him, I was so excited, but he told me to get lost, thinking I was winding him up!”, she laughed.
“We haven’t done much yet, but there are some big milestones coming up this year we’ll celebrate. For now, we’re heading for a nice lunch, enjoying the sunshine, and I think we’ll be booking a holiday sooner than planned!”
Dublin Woman Left Shaking After €50,000 Congratulations Scratch Card Win
A Dublin woman is €50,000 richer after winning the top prize of €50,000 on the Congratulations Scratch Card. The player purchased her winning Scratch Card at Dunnes Stores, Donaghmede Shopping Centre, Dublin 13.
The win came during an ordinary workday coffee break that quickly turned unforgettable. “I was sitting down with my coffee, scratching the card, and I just went quiet. I couldn’t believe it. I was shaking.”
She spent the rest of the day in disbelief, keeping the ticket safely tucked in her pocket before taking extra precautions at home. “I was nervous but excited, I even brought it up to bed with me that night!”
Celebrations have already begun with family gatherings, and the winner has her eye on both travel and home improvements. “I’ll definitely be looking at a holiday and I’ve my eye on a new kitchen too.”
