Could you be Ireland’s Biggest Winner Yet?
Mega Anticipation as EuroMillions Jackpot Heads Towards €200 Million (est.)
20/03/2025
As Friday night’s (21st March) EuroMillions Jackpot rolls towards an astounding €200 Million, Irish players have the chance to make history with the largest Jackpot prize ever seen in Ireland.
Since the EuroMillions game launched in Ireland in 2004, there have been 17 Irish EuroMillions Jackpot winners – and if tomorrow night’s draw is won, this will be Ireland’s largest ever EuroMillions prize! The record for the largest cheque presented in the famous Winners' Room currently stands at €175 Million, when Reillys Daybreak on Main Street, The Naul, Co. Dublin, sold the winning ticket for Ireland’s largest EuroMillions win in February 2019.
The National Lottery is encouraging hopefuls to secure their tickets for tomorrow’s draw early, either in-store, through the National Lottery app, or online at www.lottery.ie, before the 7.30pm deadline on Friday evening.
So far this year, we’ve had an incredible nine EuroMillions Plus Top Prize winners of €500,000, three of which collected their life-enhancing prizes this week.
First in the door was a Clare man, who made the trip to the capital to collect his EuroMillions Plus fortune after matching all numbers in the 4th March draw. The winning ticket was bought from Crowe’s Gala, The Green, Sixmilebridge, Co. Clare. His win came at a very timely manner after his car broke down just days before the draw.
“I had forgotten to get a ticket for the draw that day, so I asked my partner to pick one up on her way, which she actually complained about. Needless to say, she didn’t complain when I told her we were onto a winner!” he laughed.
After hiding the winning ticket in the bible, he continuously checked on it before making the trip to Lottery HQ. The winner plans to clear his mortgage, and without a doubt, upgrade his car to something more reliable.
A family syndicate from Dublin also struck gold when they won the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000 in the 28th February draw. Their winning ticket was bought at Spar on New Cabra Road, Dublin 7.
“I play the Lotto and EuroMillions games almost every week. The days after the draws, I head to the shop to pick up the results sheet so I can cross check the numbers – it’s a habit at this stage!” said the head of the syndicate, who kept the news to himself before sharing with the family.
One member of the syndicate was left speechless when he received the great news while sitting in the car before heading out for his shopping. “How do you expect me to concentrate and do my shopping after telling me that we’ve won €500,000? I can't think straight!”
The family hope to spend their windfall on holidays and home improvements, and despite their recent success, they’re determined to keep playing in hopes of one day hitting the big Jackpot.
Lastly, a Dublin duo claimed their €500,000 from 14th March EuroMillions Plus draw. Their winning ticket was picked up on a whim from Tesco Express Kimmage, Kimmage Road, Dublin 6. Still in a state of disbelief, one member shared “I literally just popped into the shop as I was passing by to pick up a few groceries and threw in a EuroMillions ticket purely on a whim. The news hasn’t settled with us yet, but we’re going to sit on it for a while before deciding what we’d like to do”.
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. In total, more than €6.5 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 37 years ago. In 2023 alone, €227.9 Million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
Play National Lottery games responsibly, play for fun.
