A Legendary Trio! Minister Jack Chambers Honours Three Dublin Good Causes Legends!

Three Dublin organisations have been crowned National Lottery Good Cause Legends 2026, earning national recognition for the legendary difference they make in the lives of people and communities across Dublin and beyond.

The National Lottery launched Good Cause Legends earlier this year to recognise extraordinary organisations, projects and individuals who have used National Lottery Good Causes funding to make a lasting impact in their communities. Following a nationwide application and judging process, nine organisations from across Ireland were selected as Good Cause Legends, with three winners chosen in each of the three categories: Sport and Wellness, Cultural and Heritage, and Community. Each winner will receive a €15,000 award and a bespoke Good Cause Legends trophy.

Among the Dublin organisations recognised as National Lottery Good Cause Legends are:

Fishamble: The New Play Company, named a Cultural & Heritage Legend, for its outstanding contribution to Irish theatre and storytelling, creating, developing and promoting new work while bringing powerful Irish voices to audiences at home and abroad.

Hygiene Hub, named a Community Legend, for its tireless work tackling hygiene poverty and ensuring individuals and families have access to essential hygiene products with dignity.

Shannon's Hopeline, named a Sport & Wellness Legend, for its dedicated work supporting people affected by mental health challenges and helping to improve wellbeing through its vital services and supports.

Their recognition reflects the dedication and commitment of those involved and the important role that Good Causes funding continues to play in supporting projects that deliver real and lasting benefits throughout Ireland. I also welcome the continued focus on transparency around Good Causes funding and look forward to the publication of the next Good Causes Annual Funding Report, which will provide further insight into how this funding is allocated and the impact it delivers for communities nationwide.”

• The Hunt Museum (Limerick)

Sport & Wellness Legends:

• Mayo Mountain Rescue Team (Mayo)
• My Canine Companion (Cork)
• Shannon's Hopeline (Dublin)

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total, €7 billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 39 years ago. In 2024 alone, €239.3 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
