21/08/2026
Nine organisations from across Ireland have been crowned National Lottery Good Cause Legends 2026, earning national recognition for the legendary difference they make in communities nationwide.
In a series of surprise live on-air reveals on local radio stations, representatives from each organisation learned that they had been selected as National Lottery Good Cause Legends, celebrating their commitment, impact and community spirit across the areas of community, culture, heritage, sport and wellbeing.
The National Lottery launched Good Cause Legends earlier this year to recognise extraordinary organisations, projects and individuals who have used National Lottery Good Causes part-funding to make a lasting impact in their communities.
Following a nationwide application and judging process, nine organisations from across Ireland were selected as Good Cause Legends, with three winners chosen in each of the three categories: Sport and Wellness, Cultural and Heritage, and Community. Each winner will receive a €15,000 award and a bespoke Good Cause Legends trophy.
National Lottery CEO, Cian Murphy, said “The Good Cause Legends competition was created to celebrate the organisations, projects and people whose dedication, passion and community spirit make a real difference across Ireland. This year’s nine Legends are outstanding examples of the impact being made in communities nationwide thanks to the support of National Lottery Good Causes funding. They also show the extraordinary breadth of what that funding supports, from charities providing essential hygiene products and therapies for young people, to theatre, museums and storytelling festivals preserving culture and creativity, to mental health supports, service dogs and volunteer mountain rescue. Each one is creating meaningful change in their own unique way, and we are delighted to celebrate their achievements and recognise them as National Lottery 2026 Good Cause Legends.”
