Warning to our players about a fake email in circulation
The National Lottery has been made aware of a fake email which is currently in circulation.
The email attempts to mimic a ticket confirmation message from the National Lottery, and asks recipients to download recently played tickets.
A link is provided which, when opened, automatically downloads a zip folder to the user’s device. The zip folder contains a file(s) which will cause harm to the user’s device if opened. If you have clicked on the link, please delete the attachment.
How will I know a fake email from a genuine email from the National Lottery?
- The National Lottery will always send service emails from no-reply@lottery.ie, so please check the email address from which it is sent. If it looks suspicious DO NOT open any links or attachments provided in the email.
- The National Lottery will never request a user to download recently played tickets, as all tickets are securely stored in a player’s online account.
