The Hunt Museum
Cultural & Heritage Legend

The Hunt Museum in Limerick houses a remarkable collection of approximately 2,500 artefacts and artworks, spanning Neolithic times to the 20th century and including works by Picasso, Renoir and Jack B. Yeats, welcoming over 150,000 visitors through its doors every year.
Committed to making culture accessible to all, the museum co-created Seeing Without Sight with visually impaired volunteers, developing 35 audio descriptions, 3D printed replicas and Braille labels now permanently installed in the collection.
The Hunt Museum are Cultural & Heritage Legends for their outstanding commitment to inclusion and accessibility in Irish cultural life. Judges commended their Seeing Without Sight project, challenging the most fundamental assumption of museums, that they can only be shaped by sight. By inviting visitors to touch, listen and experience their extraordinary collection in new ways, the Hunt Museum demonstrated that heritage belongs to everyone. Their work has since been recognised as a model of best practice across Europe.
