Lotto Jackpot Winner in Clifden

National Lottery still waiting to hear from lucky ticketholder

The National Lottery has revealed that the winning ticket for Saturday’s Lotto jackpot worth over €7,337,744 was sold in the Galway coastal town of Clifden.

It was also confirmed that the winning ticketholder has yet to make contact so the National Lottery is still urging people from Clifden to check their tickets. Clifden is also a popular town for holidaymakers and with an increase in people staycationing in Ireland this year, a spokesperson reminded those who may be visiting the area to also check their Lotto tickets.

A National Lottery spokesperson said it will announce the name of the winning store tomorrow and said: “We can reveal that this winning ticket worth more than €7.3 million was sold in Clifden, the town often referred to as the Capital of Connemara. While we will announce the lucky store which sold this ticket tomorrow, we are now asking Lotto players who live in Clifden or for those who may be holidaying in the area to check their Lotto tickets very carefully to see if they are Ireland’s newest multi-millionaire. If you are this lucky winner, please sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize.”

This latest Lotto win is the 8th jackpot win so far in 2020 with over €41 million won in jackpot prizes alone. In 2020, more than €89 million has been won in prizes in the Lotto game which includes 14 new millionaires which have been created in the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.

This is the 96th Lotto jackpot to be won in Co. Galway since the inception of the Lotto game in 1988. These 96 jackpots totalled are worth in excess of €162.3 million.

The winning Lotto numbers (Saturday 15th August) are: 03, 07, 18, 36, 40, 42 and the Bonus number is: 16.

Meanwhile, the National Lottery has reminded its players that it has reopened its office at Lotto HQ on Abbey Street in Dublin city centre to facilitate top tier winners of €15,000  and above (€10,000 and above for online players) who wish to avail of the prize claim facility. Prize payments will be facilitated by appointment only. Alternatively, winners can also still claim their prizes by using the approved postal payment service which was introduced due to Covid-19.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “Our priority is always the safety of our employees and our players and given the on-going health emergency, only a limited team remain on-site at Lotto HQ to facilitate draw and prize claims. Top tier prize claims at Lotto HQ are by appointment only and all prize winners of €15,000 and above (€10,000 for online players) are encouraged to contact the National Lottery Claims Department by calling 1800 666 222 or by emailing claims@lottery.ie and arrangements will be made for the prize to be claimed.”

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total more than €5.6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 32 years ago. In 2019 alone, €250 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
