A Dublin woman claimed a prize worth €90,111 in Lottery HQ this afternoon, which she won in last Saturday’s (16th November) Lotto draw, after matching 5 numbers plus the bonus.
The woman, who had just renewed her ‘Scheduled Play’ subscription on the National Lottery app, had been playing the same numbers of personal significance for the past three months.
“I was catching up with my friends on Saturday night, and I saw the lottery notification pop up on my watch, but I swiped it away, not thinking much of it. When I got home that night, I didn’t sleep very well and had totally forgotten about the winning lottery notification until Sunday morning. I logged on and genuinely got such a shock, I thought I might’ve won €500, or €1,000, but certainly not €90,000. I turned to my husband and showed him my phone, he thought I was showing him a screenshot I found online to prank him.” she recalled.
When asked how she plans to spend her newfound fortunes, she excitedly replied “I was just looking up flight prices to travel home for Christmas, and they were so expensive. So, for sure, one of the first things I’ll be treating my family to is a trip home to Lithuania to visit my parents and spend time with them for the festive season!”
A Kilkenny woman was also all smiles as she collected a cheque for €65,155 after scooping the Snowball Prize on the National Lottery’s TellyBingo game. Sharing the story of her win, the delighted woman revealed that a family member’s unique taste in bread unexpectedly led her to the Centra shop in Piltown, Co Kilkenny where she purchased her winning ticket.
“There’s a specific brand of bread that one of my family members will only eat,” she explained. “I went to one shop to pick it up, but they didn’t have it, so I headed to a second shop and that’s where I decided to buy my TellyBingo ticket!”
The winner also spoke about her plans for the prize money, revealing that she has never taken a proper holiday abroad. “My last trip abroad was to the UK about ten years ago,” she said. “I’m really excited to book my first big trip away.”
Interestingly, this isn’t her first time experiencing a National Lottery win. Around nine years ago, she won €10,000 on the now-retired RTÉ gameshow ‘Million Euro Challenge’. Her latest win has her dreaming even bigger, and she’s already looking forward to the opportunities this prize will bring.
A Waterford woman also made the trip to Lotto HQ to claim her prize on an All Cash Extravaganza scratch card, purchased from Spar, Amber Service Station, Lisduggan, Waterford on Saturday, 16th November.
“I bought the scratch card on a whim, I even threw it in the bottom of my handbag and forgot about it. When I scratched it that evening, I was in total disbelief. Little did I know that I was walking around with a ticket worth €50,000 in my bag!”
The player plans on finishing refurbishing her home and making special memories with her family and loved ones.
Also collecting their winnings was a Kerry woman who made a day out of her trip to pick up her prize of €18,510 after matching five numbers in the EuroMillions draw on the 8th November. She purchased her quick pick ticket from SuperValu in Tralee and hopes to celebrate this Christmas with a trip to London with her friend.
