Wexford family claim EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000

Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot set to roll towards €160 million (est)

A Wexford family were the biggest winners to claim a life-changing prize in the Winners Room today after leaving Lotto HQ with a cheque worth €500,000. The family have had a truly memorable few weeks after winning the top prize amount in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Tuesday 12th April.  The winning ticket was purchased at Hughes Foodmarket in the village of Ballymoney in Gorey, Co. Wexford.

The Sunny South East winners spoke of the disbelief they initially felt when they realised just how much their ticket was worth: “I wouldn’t usually check my ticket immediately; usually it could be a few days or even weeks before I think of scanning my tickets. But when I heard where the winning ticket was sold, I had to check straight away. I was on a break from work at the time so it was certainly a mad feeling going back to finish the day off knowing I was half a million euro better off!”

Since winning the top prize amount, the winners have been busy making sensible plans and thinking ahead to the future: “Paying off our mortgage and bills is definitely the priority right now. We won’t be rushing into making any other plans but one thing we’re eager to do is to get away on a family holiday in the sun to celebrate.”

Meanwhile, as there was no winner of last night’s astonishing €138,997,634 EuroMillions jackpot, Friday’s jackpot is now set to roll to an estimated €160 million. Tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the cut-off time for sales at 7.30pm on Friday evening.
