Daily Million Double! Two players claim a combined €1.5 Million in prizes at National Lottery HQ

The weather might be miserable across the country today, but that didn’t stop joyous scenes breaking out in the National Lottery’s winners room this afternoon, as two players from Louth and Dublin made a trip to Abbey Street to claim a combined €1.5 Million which they won in Daily Million draws.

A syndicate of two from Louth were the first in the door to claim an amazing €500,000 which they scooped in the Daily Million Plus draw on Thursday 2nd March.

The winners, who wish to remain private, recounted the run-up to purchasing the winning ticket, and all that followed afterwards: “I was driving along and saw a beautiful looking SUV perched on a hill, and I thought to myself, my goodness I’d love one of those bad boys. It was with that thought I pulled into the next petrol station, picked up some dog food and bought a Daily Million ticket with whatever change was left over. I didn’t check the ticket for a couple of days, it just totally went out my head, but I went back to the shop a couple of days later and the girl that scanned my ticket said, you’ll have to call the National Lottery. I knew then I’d won something big enough maybe €20,000 or so. I called them up and was told I’d won €500,000! All I said back to them was, deadly! I then rang my wife to tell her the news and I was met with dead silence on the other side of the phone. For once in her life she was speechless”, laughed the winner.

When asked how they might like to spend their winnings, the winner chirped, “Well, first thing I’m going to do is go out and buy that fine looking SUV I had my eye on”, he said.

Some home improvements and a trip to Canada and New Zealand are also on the cards for the Louth duo. The syndicate of two purchased their winning ticket in Centra on Main Street Dunleer, Co.Louth.

Also claiming a life-changing prize today was a Dublin player who officially became the 10th National Lottery millionaire of 2023 after they won the top prize of €1 million in Tuesday's 9PM Daily Million draw. The delighted Dublin winner played their winning Quick Pick ticket on the National Lottery App and they revealed that they plan to pay off their mortgage once they cash their cheque for €1 million.

Daily Million draws take place twice a day, seven days a week at 2pm and 9pm and costs just €1 per play.
