Three National Lottery players from Kildare, Limerick and Galway share prize fund worth over €700,000

“Thank god I answered the call!”

Galway syndicate ‘Schedule’ €133,104 Lotto win

It was a Monday to remember for EuroMillions and Lotto players from all over the country starting their week off with a trip to Lotto HQ to claim high tier prizes.

A Kildare man was still coming to terms with his life-changing win after scooping the top prize of €500,000 in Friday’s (11th August) EuroMillions Plus draw. The winning ticket was purchased at the Applegreen service station in Millennium Park in Naas, Co. Kildare.

“I was watching the television while I was checking my ticket on Friday night and I wasn’t really thinking anything of it. I marked off the first two numbers and it didn’t even occur to me that it could be a winner but then when I got to the third number out, I started to give it more of my attention. I couldn’t believe it when I had all the numbers marked off and realised I was actually a top prize winner! I made sure to be up to the Winners Room first thing this morning – I was determined to get rid of the ticket and claim my winnings as soon as possible,” he said.

The Kildare winner plans to take his time and plan out what to do with his life-changing windfall.

An online Lotto player from Limerick was the next winner through the door this morning after matching five numbers and the bonus in the Saturday 5th August draw to win €139,269.

The online winner admitted that it was a phone call from the National Lottery that made her check her ticket: “I was at home when I saw a call coming through from a number that I didn’t recognise. It was a massive shock when it was the National Lottery Claims Department on the other end of the line telling me that I had won big in the Lotto. I was definitely sceptical at first but I logged into my account while I was on the phone and to say I was jumping for joy when I saw the winning amount staring back at me would be an understatement. Thank god I answered the call!”

“It was certainly an unexpected amount to win so we are hoping to put the funds to good use and take a holiday over the coming months to celebrate.”

Meanwhile, an online syndicate from Galway claimed their €133,104 Match 5 + Bonus prize from the 22nd July Lotto draw. The winning ticket was purchased using the recently launched Scheduled Play service in the National Lottery app. The €133,104 prize is the largest amount to be won to date using the new service.

The syndicate manager admitted that the new Scheduled Play service has made life a lot easier for purchasing tickets for the group.

“I have been managing our syndicate for about five years now and I always hoped that there would be something to make life a little easier for organising our weekly tickets. I was thrilled when I saw the new Scheduled Play tool. I set up the continuous play option for 6 months which has definitely made things a lot more stream-lined.”

“When I got the call from the National Lottery about the win, I had to go tell the rest of the members about our win. I’m not sure if they believed me immediately but they were definitely eager to hear when I was collecting the cheque. Hopefully we’ll have more luck again and be back here soon!”

With Scheduled Play, players can set up continuous play for 3, 6, or 12 months, and receive notifications of every draw in advance. This service is designed to simplify lottery play and ensure that players never miss a draw.

One of the key benefits of Scheduled Play is that players can opt out easily at any time. Additionally, players get notifications of every draw in advance, which is something many players want as they often simply forget to play. Scheduled Play is not pre-play or pre-paid - players only pay when they play, and not in advance.

Scheduled Play also allows players to budget and to decide what they want to spend on their lottery play on a weekly basis. This is a significant player protection measure, as it ensures that players are in control of their spending and can enjoy National Lottery games without playing more than they had planned.
