A Wexford syndicate made history by claiming Ireland’s first All Cash Millionaire Scratch Card, worth €1 million, purchased at Applegreen, Ramstown Lower, Gorey, Co. Wexford. What started as a joke quickly turned into an unforgettable moment for the group.
“The syndicate lead jokingly told us we’d won €50,000, but as we looked at the Scratch Card, I remember saying, ‘There’s no €50,000 there, you’ve made a mistake. Look again!’ Then it hit us… we’ve won a million!”
The group got the news while driving home, describing it as “the longest car journey ever” as the reality of their win began to sink in.
Now with the prize secured, the group are looking forward to marking the win with holidays and getting started on long-awaited home renovations.
A Louth man also had exciting plans after picking up a €5 All Cash Platinum Scratch Card in a Spar in Tallanstown, Dundalk, winning the top prize of €75,000.
“I told my mother first and we both just sat looking over the Scratch Card, making sure it definitely was €75,000. I am starting to think about travel plans now. There are a few places I would like to go but I’d really love to visit Thailand and Australia.”
A Wexford man also celebrated after receiving a €5 Wordplay Mystery Multiplier Scratch Card as a gift, which won him the €50,000 top prize. The Scratch Card was purchased at Cullen's (Gala), Adamstown, Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.
“I got the Scratch Card as a gift from my mother. I wouldn’t usually play this particular game, so I had to get a sheet of paper out to write down all of the words to be certain I wasn’t seeing things. I’ll be taking a trip around Ireland to celebrate – here’s hoping we’ll get the good weather!”
