Here are some of our biggest winners from September!

September was an exciting month for National Lottery players all over the country including two top prize winners who took the titles of 28th and 29th National Lottery millionaires of the year so far!

On Saturday's Lotto draw on the 3rd of September, two players kicked the month off to a great start by matching five numbers and the bonus to share a prize of €54,288. The winning tickets, both worth €27,144, were purchased in Centra in Lucan, Co Dublin and by an online player in Donegal.

The following Wednesday 7th September, a Lotto player from Co. Laois got a mid-week treat after they matched five numbers and the bonus to scoop €40,766. The player purchased their winning quick pick ticket on the day of the draw in the Emo Service station in Mountrath, Co Laois.

A week later, an online Lotto player in Dublin also managed to match five numbers and the bonus in Wednesday’s 14th September draw to take home a whopping €96,446 .

On Saturday 17th of September a player from Co. Louth scooped the €1 million Lotto Plus 1 top prize to become 28th National Lottery millionaire of 2022.

There was great excitement as a local family run shop, Sloane's newsagents, on Avenue Road in Dundalk, sold the winning normal play ticket on Saturday 17th of September.

The Wee County had its second big winner four days later, when a player in Dundalk scooped the Lotto Plus 2 top prize of €250,000 on Wednesday 21st of September. The player, who wished to remain private, wasn’t hanging about and claimed their prize the day after the draw.

“I got about three hours sleep last night worrying about looking after the ticket! I had it stored away somewhere safe but just kept thinking, what if I lose it? What if it goes missing? So, I just had to get rid of it today, that’s why I didn’t hang about in claiming it!”, he said. 

“I’ve always dreamed of owning an expensive, exotic car, but first and foremost I’m looking forward to spoiling my family, we’ve a nice Christmas to look forward to”, he added.

In the same Lotto draw a player from the capital matched five numbers and the bonus to scoop €98,444. The Dublin player purchased their winning ticket in Supervalu Rathgar, Dublin 6.

Three days later, a Dublin Lotto player matched five numbers and the bonus in Saturday’s 24th September draw to win €57,711. The winning ticket was sold in No. 7 Newsagents in Clearwater Sopping Centre, Finglas, Dublin 11.

And rounding up the month, on Wednesday 28th September, a Lotto player from Cork matched five numbers and the bonus in the Lotto draw to score a respectable €43,508. The winning ticket was sold on the day of the draw in Supervalu Kinsale, The Glen, New Road, Kinsale, Co Cork.


It was a memorable start to the month, when a Dublin player scooped the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000 on Friday 2nd of September EuroMillions draw. The player, who wished to remain private, spoke of how they felt when they found out they’d won the incredible prize: “I’m just in complete shock! It still hasn’t really sunk in yet. I’ve no big plans made for the money yet, but clearing off the mortgage will be top of the list. It’s a nice amount of money – not completely life changing but will make our lives a little easier and take some pressure off”, they said. The Dublin player purchased their EuroMillions Plus quick pick ticket worth €500,000 at the Student Union shop located on the Trinity College Campus in Dublin city centre.

In the same draw, a work syndicate of nineteen from Broderick’s Bakery in Co. Dublin matched five numbers and a lucky star to scoop an amazing €193,667. Head of the group syndicate Alison Ennis revealed the story behind the winning ticket: “We’ve been running this syndicate since February, so it’s only 7 months old! I’m the one in charge of collecting the money and purchasing the tickets each week. On the night of the draw I was looking at tickets and I realised on the last line of the ticket we’d won! I took a picture of it and sent it into our syndicate group chat and the chat started hopping! We couldn’t believe it! Everyone was absolutely buzzing and getting sharing pictures celebrating in their own homes that night”, she recounted. A new car, a first tattoo, new teeth and a new back garden were among some of the other things syndicate members wish to do with their new prize money. The winning quick pick ticket was sold at the Circle K Westway service station on the Kylemore Road in Dublin 12.

On Friday 9th of September 77,000 players in Ireland won prizes in the EuroMillions and Plus games, including one winner of match 5 prize receiving €24,522. The winning ticket was sold online in Co. Galway.

The following week, on Friday 16th of September another EuroMillions player in Ireland won the top prize of €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw. The winning Normal Play ticket was sold on the 25th of August at Caulfield’s SuperValu store in Loughboy, on the outskirts of Kilkenny city.

On Tuesday 20th of September and Irish EuroMillons player in Co. Kildare matched 5 numbers in Tuesdays draw to win €18,231. The winning ticket was sold online.

A player from Co. Galway scooped the EuroMillions plus top prize worth €500,000 the following week in Tuesday’s 27th September EuroMillions draw.  The winning quick pick with plus ticket was sold on the day of the draw in McCanns Centra, MoyCullen, Co. Galway.

And on Friday the 30th of September, a player from North Co. Dublin rounded up the month by scoring the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000. The winning Quick Pick ticket worth a half million euro was sold on the day of the draw (30th September) at the Spar store which is situated on Drogheda Street in the heart of Balbriggan town in Co. Dublin. 


On Thursday 22nd of September, a Daily Million player from Dublin won the top prize of €1 million to become the 29th National Lottery millionaire of 2022! The player, who chose to remain private, revealed their shock at winning the life-changing sum and also what they hope to do with their winnings.  “We’re absolutely overjoyed and still in complete shock! We’re a young couple and it would be a dream come true to be able to buy our own house. We’ve always wanted to travel the world too, so hopefully we can tick a few countries off our list. We’re beyond excited for this next chapter and all the new adventures it will bring”, they said. The Dublin player, purchased their winning ticket on the day of the draw (22nd of September) in Fresh, the Good Food Market, in Northern Cross, Dublin 17.


September was also an incredible month for scratch card players all over the country with eight players sharing an incredible €950,000. This included an amazing €250,000 prize won on a Mega Money Multiplier card purchased at Daybreak in Courtown, Co Wexford. €25,000 was won on a Money Multiplier ticket sold at the Ballylynch service station in Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary.

Two Dublin players enjoyed wins off scratch cards this month, including a €30,000 win on a Diamond Bingo purchased at Doubler Noely’s Shop, 2 Bawnlea Green, Jobstown, Dublin 24 and a staggering €500,000 win on an All Cash Extravaganza ticket sold at Mulhuddart Services in Mulhuddart, Dublin 15.

A player from Mayo won €50,000 on a Cashword Plus after purchasing their scratch card in Laura’s XL store in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. €30,000 was won on an All Cash Tripler sold at Cove Stores, in Newtown, Tramore, Co Waterford. A player from Kerry won €15,000 on an All Cash Gold card purchased at  SuperValu in Tralee, Co. Kerry.  And finally €50,000 was won on a Congratulations scratch card sold at Souhan’s store in Trim, Co. Meath.
