Here are some of our biggest winners from October!

October was an incredible month for National Lottery players which saw three players scoop the Lotto Jackpot within just ten days of each other! The winners who took the titles of 30th, 31st and 32nd National Lottery Millionaires of 2022.

On Wednesday, 5th of October, a family syndicate from Co. Meath got their month off to a flying start after scooping the Lotto Jackpot worth an incredible €8,915,056. Lowthe’s Londis in Duleek, Co. Meath sold the winning normal play on Saturday 1st of October. The ecstatic family, who wish to keep their win private, spoke of the moment they realised they’d won the life-changing prize. “We just couldn’t believe it, we felt so overwhelmed but so grateful at the same time! We’re still wrapping out head around it. It’s going to give us such security going forward”, they said. “My legs went weak when the National Lottery Claims Teams told me how much I’d won. My head was like scrambled eggs after I got off the phone with them. I was putting my shopping away in all the wrong cupboards. I put a bag of sugar in the fridge and I made a cup of tea with un-boiled water!”, one syndicate member added.

In the same draw two players from Co. Wexford and Monaghan matched five numbers and the bonus to score €51,658 each. One of the players purchased their ticket from Centra in Ramsgrange, New Ross, Co Wexford. The winning normal play ticket was purchased on Monday the 3rd of October. The player from Co. Monaghan purchased their winning ticket online.

Three days later a player from Dublin matched 5 numbers and the bonus in Saturday 8th October’s Lotto draw to win €49,256. Supervalu in Blanchardstown, Dublin 15 sold the winning quick pick ticket on the day of the draw.

On Wednesday 12th of October, the Lotto Jackpot was won again, this time by a family syndicate in South Co. Dublin. The winning ticket worth an astonishing €2,310,972 was purchased on the day of the draw in XL on The Rise in Mount Merrion, Co Dublin. The family, who wished to remain private, described the feeling of finding out they’d won the amazing prize; “I didn’t actually believe it until I saw the physical cheque in front of me today. I thought someone was going to tell me that this was all a big joke! I’ve never seen so many zero’s in my life, it looked more like a bank account number than real money!”, one of the syndicate members said. “We’re just looking forward to clearing off the mortgage and doing some repairs to the house. We’ve no other big plans yet, we’re just going to keep the heads cool and keep life as normal as possible”, another syndicate member added.

In the same draw a player from Cork matched 5 numbers and the bonus to take home a respectable €36,177. The player purchased their winning ticket on the day of the draw in Centra Foodstore, Ballineen, Co Cork.

Just three days later, in Saturdays 15th October draw, the Lotto Jackpot was scooped once again -making it the third jackpot win in just ten days! Another family syndicate, this time from Co. Wexford, purchased their winning quick pick ticket worth €2 Million on the day of the draw at Canavan’s Londis in Gorey, Co. Wexford. “Well there were tears of joy when we found out. We were in complete shock and disbelief. But this has come at the perfect time for us and it will really take some pressure off. We’re looking forward to a special Christmas between us”, they said. 

One family member spoke of the pressure of keeping the winning ticket safe for a whole week. “I was absolutely petrified I’d lose the ticket. So, I hid it in a Micheal Collins DVD case and stashed it away under the bed. Micheal took good care of it for us”, the syndicate member added.

Towards the end of the month a player from Co. Westmeath matched 5 numbers and the bonus in Saturday 22nd October Lotto draw to win €134,357. Anne Marie Canavan brought her family to National Lottery HQ to celebrate the big win and collect the amazing prize. She revealed how she found out she was in possession of the winning ticket:  “I’ve returned to education and I’m currently doing a course in care skills. I thought it was like any other ordinary Monday morning, but then my tutor asked me if I knew the winner in Kilbeggan from Saturday night’s Lotto. It then dawned on me – I had never checked my own ticket! I ran out to my car, grabbed the ticket and returned to the classroom. I called out my numbers while another classmate checked them online. Everyone had gathered around me in such suspense. Well, the floor nearly collapsed with all the cheering and jumping around when we discovered I was the winner! she said. Ms Canavan, purchased her winning quick pick Lotto ticket worth €134,357 on the day of the draw at Whelan's in Kilbeggan, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.  She revealed to the National Lottery how she hopes to spend her winnings: “I’ve had a rough couple of years health wise, so I’m really looking forward to giving back to my family, who gave me so much strength and support during that time. I have three sisters, one brother and an amazing daughter. My Mam’s has always dreamed of a brand-new car, so I hope to get her one”, she said. 

And rounding up the month, on 26th October, a player from Co. Kilkenny matched 5 numbers and the bonus to take home €36,769. The winning quick pick ticket was purchased on the day of the draw in Gala Forecourt, Waterford Road, New Ross, Co Kilkenny.


On Friday 7th October, a player from Galway matched 5 numbers in the EuroMillions draw receiving €25,309. The player purchased their winning quick pick ticket the day before in Centra on Main Street, Ballygar, Co. Galway

Towards the end of the month, on the 25th of October, a player from Dublin also matched 5 numbers in the EuroMillions draw to bag a handsome €33,457. The winning ticket was sold on the day of the draw in Spar on New Cabra Road, Dublin 7.


On Saturday 29th October, a player from Waterford got their weekend off to a great start after scooping a whopping €30,000 in the Lotto 5-4-3-2-1 draw.


In October, two scratch card players shared a combined €75,000. This included a €50,000 win on a Bingo Multiplier card purchased at Centra in Drimnagh Retail Centre, Drimnagh Road, Dublin 12. €25,000 was won on a Monday Multiplier ticket sold at Lee’s Centra Applegreen, Limerick Road, Charleville, Co. Cork.
