After the Lotto jackpot reached the highest amount ever seen in the history of the game at the end of September, players all over the country benefited from the prize roll down which came into effect from Saturday 2nd October. While the jackpot remained capped at €19.06 million for the month of October, this meant that the additional funds that would usually go to the jackpot were instead distributed to the next highest tier with a winner. This resulted in 144 players nationwide winning boosted prizes at both the Match 5+Bonus and Match 5 levels throughout the month.

In the first ever capped jackpot draw, two players in Dublin shared an incredible prize fund of €1,652,784 after matching 5 numbers and the bonus to win €826,392 each in the 2nd October draw. The winning Quick Pick tickets were sold at the Spar store in Newtown Park Avenue in Blackrock and at the Supervalu store in Donabate. Wednesday 13th October marked the first draw since the jackpot cap came into effect that there were no winners at the Match 5+Bonus tier. This meant that the additional funds that would have gone to the jackpot instead flowed down to the Match 5 prize tier which benefited 28 players all over Ireland. The Match 5 winners who purchased their tickets in 13 different counties shared an astonishing prize fund of €986,552 winning €35,234 each.
