National Lottery calls on Meath EuroMillions players to check tickets as €500,000 won in Navan
Latest EuroMillions Plus prize is tenth top prize win of 2020
A lucky EuroMillions player in Co. Meath is to the tune of €500,000 better off today after scooping the EuroMillions Plus top prize on last night’s draw (Tuesday 5th May). This is the tenth EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000 to be won in the Ireland so far this year.
The winning ticket was sold at Day Today News in the Johnstown Shopping Centre, Navan, Co Meath, a store which is 15 years in business in the centre, a short distance from Navan town.
Speaking on selling the winning ticket, Padraig Lonergan, who co-owns the Day Today News with Philip Keegan, said: “It’s the first time we have sold a major National Lottery prize winning ticket in our 15 years of business so we can’t wait to spread the news to our customers. Most of our trade is from the local area and more so since the current health restrictions, so I’d guess it is a Navan local. However I’ve no idea who it could be but whoever the winner is, I hope the €500,000 brings them a lot of happiness”.
The winning EuroMillions Plus numbers for last night’s draw were: 03, 08, 09, 19 and 49. The winning ticket was sold yesterday, Tuesday 5th May. There was no winner of the €48,838,406 EuroMillions jackpot, which rolls to an estimated €55 million for this Friday’s draw (8th May).
A National Lottery spokesperson said: “It’s a lovely bit of news for someone in Navan to get so we are calling on anyone who bought their EuroMillions tickets in Day Today News in Johnstown Shopping Centre yesterday to check those tickets. If you are the winner of this €500,000 please sign the back of the ticket and contact our prize claims team on 1800 666 222 and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted. We have also extended the period of time that winners can collect prizes to encourage people to stay at home and not require them to make any unnecessary journeys during the current public health emergency.”
This means that any lucky winners of Lotto and Lotto Plus, Lotto 54321, EuroMillions and EuroMillions Plus, Telly Bingo, Daily Millions and Daily Millions Plus draws from 9th January 2020 until draws in the week 5th July 2020 will have an extra three months in which they can claim their prize. The prize claims extension applies to winners who purchased their tickets and scratch card games in-store, online at www.lottery.ie and via the National Lottery App.
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total more than €5.6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 32 years ago. In 2019 alone, €250 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
