“I thought it was €500 – not €1 Million!!” – Lusk Lotto Millionaire comes forward to claim life-changing prize from December draw

Wednesday’s Lotto Jackpot heading towards an incredible €14.2 Million estimated!

Spectacular win for Dublin woman who hits top prize of €200,000 on an online Instant Win Game

A Lotto player in North County Dublin was delighted to drop into Lotto HQ this week and leave the building with a cheque worth €1,000,500. The Lotto winner scooped their life-changing prize in the special Lotto Plus Raffle event held on Saturday 23rd December after purchasing their winning ticket at the Applegreen Roundtower service station in Lusk, Co. Dublin.

The winner admitted that even though they checked their ticket on Christmas Day, they had no idea just how much their ticket was worth until just last week.

“I saw the message to contact the National Lottery when I checked the ticket at Christmas and saw that I had the Raffle number. I made the assumption that I had won €500 which I was thrilled with because I said to myself, that’ll be great for paying off a few bills in January. I decided to go and actually claim the prize last week but when I did, it wouldn’t go through the terminal so I rang into Claims to see if there was an issue. They took the details and said they would call me back. After a few minutes, I got the call and the person on the phone asked me if I was sitting down and said that I had won €1 Million. I was in the shop at the time trying to pick up a few bits so I didn’t know what to say or how to react.”

The Lotto Plus Raffle winner even saw the celebratory store photo recently in the newspaper but never thought they could be the big winner that the National Lottery were urging to come forward.

“It’s funny because I saw the photo with the champagne at the store and I never even put two and two together that the winner could have been me. You never think you’ll win a prize like that so it just went over my head. It really is like a layer upon layer of luck with this one though which is the mad thing. I know that the day I won was a special Raffle event and the only reason there was €1 Million even in that draw was because a Monaghan player never claimed their prize. It took that winner not coming forward to me having the winning Raffle number and then to have my exact Raffle ticket picked out again for the extra prize.”

Another lucky Dublin woman was also celebrating at Lotto HQ as she pocketed a whopping €200,000 on a National Lottery online Instant Win Game. The online player who wishes to keep her win private played the All Cash Spectacular online game on the National Lottery website on Wednesday 17th January.

Describing herself as an occasional Lottery participant, the Dublin resident revealed that she seldom played online National Lottery scratch card games. The win came as a pleasant surprise, and initially, she found it hard to believe her good fortune:

“I downloaded the App to manage my Lotto numbers during the pandemic but I haven't used it so much over the last number of months. Last week, I opened it up on my phone to play Lotto and I said I'd give one of the games a go because I had some extra money on my account. I had barely even started the game when this pop-up took over my screen telling me I'd won €200,000. I thought that it must have been a mistake and the more I showed my screen to all of my family, the more we realised that I was after winning €200,000. It really was incredible. We're still coming to terms with the win so we haven't made any spending plans as of yet. We do want to do a couple of things around the house but I can guarantee we'll keep a level head and be sensible with the winnings," she said.

The National Lottery Digital All Cash Spectacular Instant Win Game costs €10 to play and still has an outstanding top prize of €200,000 up for grabs. The game is available to play on the National Lottery App or on www.lottery.ie

Meanwhile, tomorrow night’s Lotto Jackpot is heading towards an estimated €14.2 Million. If Wednesday’s staggering amount is scooped by a single Lotto winner, the potential new multi-Millionaire would find themselves on the list of all time highest Lotto Jackpot winners ever to be seen in Ireland.

Players dreaming of how they would spend the massive amount are reminded that tickets can be purchased ahead of the 7:45pm cut-off time for sales on Wednesday evening in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total, more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 36 years ago. In 2022 alone, €259.5 Million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
