Kilkenny ticketholder wins 10th Lotto jackpot of 2020

Lotto players across Co. Kilkenny have been put on high alert this morning after the National Lottery announced that the winner of last night’s €5,395,798 Lotto jackpot bought their ticket in a Kilkenny shop.

The National Lottery is now encouraging all its Lotto players in Kilkenny to check their tickets to see if they have won this massive prize.

This latest Lotto win is the 10th jackpot win so far in 2020 with almost €50 million won in jackpot prizes alone.

A National Lottery spokesperson said it will reveal the name of the winning store in the coming days and said: “As always with multi-million jackpot wins, it is important that we inform the winning retailer and of course to give the winning ticketholder the time and space they need to let this life-changing €5.3 million win sink in. Last night’s draw produced more than 77,000 winners across the country so we’re asking everyone who bought a ticket for last night’s Lotto draws to check those tickets especially if you played in Co. Kilkenny.”

The winning Lotto numbers (Wednesday 23rd September) are: 02, 05, 07, 29, 38, 42 and the Bonus number is: 27.

“We advise the winner of this prize to try their best to remain calm and be sure to sign the back of the ticket and keep it in a safe place. The winner can contact the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie and we will make arrangements for you to collect your prize”, the Lottery spokesperson continued.

This is the 25th Lotto jackpot to be won in Kilkenny since the Lotto game began in 1988. These 25 jackpots totalled are worth more than €34.7 million. So far in this year more than €100 million has been won in prizes in the Lotto game which includes 16 new millionaires which have been created in the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.

Meanwhile, another Dublin Lotto player matched five numbers and the bonus ball, just one number shy of sharing the €5.3 million prize. However, this lucky Dubliner has won a cool €198,258. This player bought their Quick Pick ticket yesterday at Massford Newsagency in the Mill Shopping Centre, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total more than €5.6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 32 years ago. In 2019 alone, €250 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
