6/03/2025
National Lottery HQ has been buzzing with excitement lately, as winners from Kerry, Carlow, and Mayo travelled to the capital to claim their life-changing prizes.
Kerry Family Hits Jackpot First up, a family syndicate of six from Co. Kerry hit the Jackpot, matching all Lotto numbers in the Wednesday, 19th February draw. The head of the syndicate purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket from Keane’s SuperValu in Killorglin, Co. Kerry. One family member recalled his experience: “I was listening to Radio Kerry and heard the Lotto was won in Kerry. I didn’t think much of it at the time, but I knew my wife had bought her weekly ticket for the draw. When I got home, I asked her if she had checked the tickets yet – she hadn’t. So, we got the numbers online and went through the prize breakdown.” Scanning through the numbers, “I think we’ve won €100,000”, she exclaimed. He laughed and replied, “You’ve won a lot more than €100,000”, realising they had secured the top prize of €2,274,988. The family called an immediate meeting to share the incredible news and celebrated through the weekend. The syndicate plans to spend their winnings on a variety of things; a new kitchen, holiday, windows, home improvements and more. There’s no doubt that they will continue to play too - “You still owe me €3” one member joked to another for their next purchase of tickets.
Carlow Duo's Lightbulb Moment Leads to €1 Million EuroMillions Win Next in the door was a syndicate of two from Co. Carlow, claiming their €1,005,000 prize from the EuroMillions Ireland-Only Raffle on 14th February. They purchased their winning ticket from Mace in Leighlinbridge, Co. Carlow. One of the winners humorously recounted, “I was in a different shop, and three people were ahead of me, taking their time buying Lottery tickets. I didn’t have the patience to wait! So, I stopped off in Leighlinbridge to pick up a lightbulb and a EuroMillions ticket. What a decision that turned out to be!” The duo struggled to read the ticket, knowing their numbers didn’t align, but their winning raffle number matched. “We scanned the ticket on the app, and it said, ‘Contact the National Lottery’, so that’s when we knew it must’ve been a winner.” They celebrated their visit to Lottery HQ by treating themselves to a stay at a 5-star hotel. They’re hoping to put their newfound fortunes towards looking after their family and loved ones, along with a cruise in the future.
Mayo Man Secures €108,809 Lotto Prize
Lastly, a Mayo man won €108,809 by matching five numbers plus the bonus in the 19th February Lotto draw. He bought his winning ticket from Casey’s Londis in Balla, Main Street, Castlebar, Co. Mayo.
“I showed my wife the ticket on a busy Friday evening, just after I finished work. She just kept asking me if I was sure, it was a hard one to believe”, he said.
The Mayo man plans to use his winnings for a family holiday this summer.
