EuroMillions
A Wicklow winner landed a windfall after matching five numbers and one lucky star in the Friday 23rd June EuroMillions draw to win €318,087. The winning ticket was purchased at The Gem on Quinsborough Road in Bray. The Wicklow man explained that it was a few days before he even thought of checking his ticket. “I had the ticket in my pocket all weekend before it even crossed my mind to check it on the Monday after the draw. When I scanned the ticket on the app, I got the message to say ‘You’ve Won Big’ but I had no idea just how much I had actually won. I rang the Claims Department and it was only then that I found out just how big I won. It was a total shock - I’ve never won anything in my life! I have been lucky in other ways in life but never like this. I even had to ring the Claims team back to double check the exact amount because it was so overwhelming hearing it the first time!
The Wicklow winner plans to help family out with his Friday night win: “Family really is the most important thing so I’ll be helping them out as much as I can.”
One week later a EuroMillions player matched 5 numbers in Friday’s June 30th draw to win €26,402. The winning ticket was sold at Applegreen & Gala, Mockmoyne Road, Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
EuroMillions Plus
In the month of June there were four winners of the EuroMillions Plus top prize, worth €500,000, reigning from the counties Tipperary and Galway.
The first player to take home the whopping €500,000 prize was a player from Co. Tipperary who won the Plus top prize on Tuesday 13th of June. The winning quick pick ticket was purchased at Centra, Old Bridge, Clonmel, Co. Tipperary. The player bought their ticket the night of the draw and didn’t check until the following morning; “I never check my tickets the night of the draw, because if I did win something, I wouldn’t be able to get a wink of sleep that night. I checked the following morning and nearly took weak! I told my partner who stored it away safely in the cupboard beside our passports –which we also plan to be using a lot more soon!”, he said. “I’m going to hit Grafton Street to buy myself something nice”, laughed his partner. A trip to Switzerland and New York City are just two of the top destinations this couple hope to travel to first following their big win.
On Friday 23rd of June, two players from Galway and Tipperary both scooped the top prize of €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw. The West of Ireland winner purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket at Corrib Oil in Brackernagh, Ballinasloe, Co. Galway on the day of the draw while the Tipperary winner purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket at Lidl in Thurles on the day of the draw.
A National Lottery player from Co. Galway picked up a cheque worth €500,000 after scooping the EuroMillions Plus top prize in Friday’s 30th of June draw. The Ballinasloe man who purchased the winning ticket at the EuroSpar store at St. Michael’s Square in Townparks on Friday 30th of June, revealed that he’s been playing the same numbers for the last 12 months: “I’ve been playing the same numbers for the past year. I’ve carefully selected them. I couldn’t believe it when I checked online and saw them all there. I wobbled out to the kitchen to tell my wife the news. I don’t think she believed me at first”, he said.
“His face was grey with shock when he came into the room and then he whispered to me that he thinks he just won half a million euro”, she chirped.
“It’s just been so surreal the past week reading the papers and listening to the radio and hearing presenters talk about the big winners from Ballinasloe and we’re sitting there thinking that’s us!”, he added.
