During the month of June, things really started to heat up for National Lottery players all over Ireland with life-changing prizes being won across the month, including two new millionaires being made in the Lotto game.

A work syndicate from Limerick City shared €1 million after winning the Lotto Plus 1 top prize on Saturday 18th June. The newly formed syndicate, who wish to keep their win private, were celebrating their big win after purchasing their winning ticket at the SuperValu store in Castletroy in Limerick city. While collecting their cheque in the Winners Room in Lotto HQ, the group spoke about their good fortune and future plans for the win:

“The syndicate is only up and running a few months! We just thought it would be a bit of craic but then all of a sudden, we have a cheque for €1 million in our back pocket. Because it’s only a new syndicate, not everybody in work actually joined it. I think that might change in the next few days as more people will want to put their names down in case we win again,” laughed the syndicate leader.

On the same night, over 95,000 players nationwide won prizes across the Lotto and Lotto Plus games which, in addition to the Lotto Plus 1 top prize winner, included a Cavan player who matched five numbers and the bonus in the main Lotto draw to win an incredible €241,583. The Sunny South East winner also became the 21st National Lottery millionaire of 2022 after purchasing their ticket at the Day Today store in Slaney Place, Enniscorthy. A week later on Friday 17th June, it was a Kilkenny couple who saw their quiet Friday night turn into a life-changing event after winning their €500,000 top prize amount. While celebrating at Lotto HQ, the couple spoke about the shock and delight they felt when checking the EuroMillions draw results on their phone that night.

“Even still, we keep pinching ourselves because it doesn’t feel real! We had planned on having a quiet weekend but that all changed on the night of the draw when I get an email to my phone to tell me that I was a winner. It’s the email that most people get when you play online, and you’d usually expect to see that you’ve won a fiver or a tenner. Once I’d opened it – there were a lot of zeros and we actually had to take a pen and paper to write the amount down to make sure we knew what we’d actually won. The quiet night in fell by the wayside within five minutes as we were frantically jumping around the house all night. It was a night that we won’t forget for the rest of our lives,” said the Kilkenny winner.

The fourth EuroMillions Plus top prize win of the month came just a few days later on Tuesday 21st June. A Mayo player joined the roll call of biggest wins in June after purchasing their winning ticket at the Maxol Service Station on the Newport Road in Westport, Co. Mayo.
