Heart-Stopping Moment as Kilkenny Winner Stunned by €4 Million Lotto Win, “We’re in total disbelief!”
Guaranteed €1 Million to be SHARED in Lotto Plus Raffle this Saturday
4/04/2025
A wave of ecstatic National Lottery winners visited Lottery HQ to claim their extraordinary Lotto prizes this week.
First in the door was an online player from Kilkenny, who proudly claimed the title of the fifth Lotto Jackpot winner of 2025 after matching all numbers from the main Lotto draw on Wednesday, 26th March. This winner had their name automatically entered into the draw thanks to the Scheduled Play feature.
“I immediately turned to my partner and said, ‘I think we’ve just won over €4 Million’. My heart was racing. Naturally, my partner didn’t believe me at first and was convinced I was misreading the message on the app. We are both in total disbelief to be sat in the Winners Room to collect this life-changing cheque!”
When questioned on how they’re planning to celebrate their €4,005,581 windfall, the Kilkenny man was quick to respond: “We’re looking forward to taking our time to decide what to do next, the pressure is certainly off!”
One Meath player has claimed their cheque for €123,101 after matching five numbers plus the bonus on Saturday, 22nd March main Lotto draw. The player picked up their all-important quick pick ticket from A&M News & Gifts, Kells Shopping Centre, Co. Meath.
“I got the shock of my life when I saw the news that the ticket was won in the same store that I bought my ticket. I went straight to the app to check if it was a winner! This win means a lot to me, I’m looking forward to being able to share it with family and loved ones!”
Next in was another Lotto player from North County Dublin who collected his share of winnings after successfully matching five numbers and the bonus in the Saturday, 8th March draw. He picked up his quick pick ticket, worth €75,204, from Daybreak on Market Street in Trim, Co Meath.
Recalling the moment he shared the exciting news with his family, he said: “I got a cake and put a 7 and 5 shaped candle on it. I took a picture and sent it to the family group chat. My sister wrote back questioning ‘Who’s 75?’, we had a great laugh. When I told her that I’d actually won €75,000, the commotion kicked off, the chat was in overdrive!” The Dubliner hopes to share his fortunes with his family and looks forward to soaking up the sunshine on a holiday later this year.
And the winning continues... We’ve added an extra €1 Million to be SHARED in tomorrow’s Lotto Plus Raffle! Lotto players are in for a treat this weekend as Saturday’s Lotto draw (5th April) promises to see even bigger prizes up for grabs after the National Lottery confirmed that an additional €1 million will be added to the Lotto Plus Raffle prize fund. The Lotto Plus Raffle guarantees winners of €500 in every draw but on Saturday night, Lotto Plus players are set for a boost in their winnings. By topping up the raffle prize fund by €1 Million, all winners of the Lotto Plus Raffle will take home the usual €500 prize PLUS share an extra €1 MILLION between them.
National Lottery players dreaming of becoming the sixth Lotto Jackpot winner of the year and hoping to win a share of the guaranteed to be won €1 Million Lotto Raffle prize, are reminded that the cut-off time for ticket sales is 7.45pm on Saturday night. Don’t forget to include the Plus option when you’re buying your ticket to be entered into the raffle.
Emma Monaghan, National Lottery spokesperson said: “Saturday’s Lotto draw is set to see players win even bigger prizes than usual with our first Lotto Plus Raffle event of the year! With an additional €1 Million in the Lotto Plus Raffle prize fund guaranteed to be shared by all Raffle winners, we are predicting each winner will receive around €10,000, depending on the number of winners. In our most recent shared €1 Million Lotto Plus Raffle, each of our players won an extra €11,495. What a great boost for our players!” “And of course, let’s not forget our Lotto Jackpot, which is heading towards an estimated €2.5 Million. If a player wins the life-changing amount on Saturday night, they will officially become the sixth Lotto Jackpot winner of 2025, as well as Ireland’s newest Millionaire.”
Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language.
