Family syndicate claim €3.8 Million Lotto Jackpot from last Wednesday’s draw

A Dublin family syndicate have enjoyed a life-changing week since sharing last Wednesday’s €7.7 Million Lotto Jackpot with another Dublin ticket holder. 

The Lotto winners, who purchased their ticket for the 4th October draw at the Applegreen service station on the Naul Road in Balbriggan, were thrilled to collect their €3,867,027 cheque. 

The family admitted while sitting in the Winners’ Room that the win still felt surreal: “We have been playing the same numbers for years now so as soon as I saw the results, I knew that we had won. I still wanted to check and triple check so scanned the ticket on the phone. I’m used to the message appearing to tell me I’ve won a small amount but when I got the ‘Congratulations’ message telling me to contact National Lottery HQ, I knew we had definitely won.”

Deciding where to keep the ticket proved to be a challenge for the winners who have had a whirlwind week. 

“The main priority for the past week has been keeping the ticket safe. I had it hidden in the wardrobe between a pile of folded t-shirts first and then the hiding place kept changing. At one point, I was going to keep the ticket with me everywhere I went but that was too much as well! It’s definitely a lot of pressure so I am delighted to be handing the ticket over today.”

The family plan to take their time in planning what to do with their new fortune. 

 “I still can’t believe that we’re Lotto Jackpot winners – even though we’re finally here in the Winners’ Room! Letting the news sink in fully is the first thing we plan to do. This time last week, we had no idea we’d be sitting here so it’s been a huge few days. As soon as this feels a lot more real, we will start to think about our plans and of course, we’ll need to celebrate.”

Also claiming a life-changing lottery prize was a Dublin player who scooped the EuroMillions Plus top prize of €500,000 on Tuesday 3rd October. The Dubliner who wishes to keep his win private purchased his winning ticket through the National Lottery App. 

Recalling how he learned of the news of his incredible win, the delighted Dublin man said, “My phone lit up after the draw with an email from the Lottery, telling me that I had won a prize. It could have been a fiver for all I knew, I just wasn’t expecting anything as big as this, it’s truly incredible. I’m going to take some time out before committing to any huge spending sprees but I’ll definitely be looking into a nice sunny family holiday in the next couple of weeks so we can celebrate properly,” he said. 

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. In total more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 36 years ago. In 2022 alone, €259 Million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
