Lotto player in Dundalk becomes Ireland’s newest multi-millionaire!

Limerick Daily Million player claims €1 million prize in Lotto HQ

The National Lottery has today confirmed that Saturday night’s (15th July) winning Lotto jackpot ticket, worth €2,418,002, was sold in Dundalk. The Louth store will be announced tomorrow, Tuesday 18th July.

The weekend winner became the 8th Lotto jackpot winner of 2023 following wins by players in Limerick (2), Dublin (2), Meath, Donegal and Westmeath.

Meanwhile, it was a Monday morning to remember for a large family from Co. Limerick who travelled to Lotto HQ in Dublin City centre to claim a €1 million prize which they won in the Daily Million draw on Friday 30th June.

The large Limerick family who wish to keep their win private spoke of their excitement and celebrations which have lasted for the last two weeks. The head of the winning Limerick syndicate said, “Although we’ve had over two weeks to let the win sink in, we are still in a state of shock. Even now as we’re sitting in the lottery offices, it’s still hard to get our heads around it. The win came about totally by chance really. I was in the shop and had a couple of euro spare in my pocket so I said I’d buy a ticket for the Daily Million draw. Afterwards when I checked the ticket on my phone, it told me it had won big but I had no clue how much! When I finally checked each individual number, I rushed home to tell everybody the good news but there was absolutely no way that they would believe me!”

After waiting over two weeks to collect their prize, the Limerick group have carefully drawn up a list of spending plans to celebrate their million euro win in style.

“The timing for this win couldn’t be any more perfect! We have a family wedding in Australia in the coming months so we’ll sit down together and make some plans for how we can celebrate properly with our wider family down-under. I will be paying off my own mortgage and some of the others will have some small bills to pay but we won’t be going too mad with the spending. And of course – we have the All Ireland hurling final against Kilkenny next weekend so we might plan another trip to Dublin for the match next week,” they laughed.
