Dublin man claims €500,000 top prize in Daily Million Plus draw

Lotto Plus 2 top prize of €250,000 claimed by Laois man

Two top prize National Lottery winners shared a prize fund of €750,000 after winning top prize amounts in two separate game draws within the same week.

The first winner was a Dublin man who officially became half a million euro richer after claiming the top prize of €500,000 from the Daily Million Plus 9pm draw on 15th April. The winning ticket was purchased at the Tesco Superstore on Whitestown Road in Rush.

The delighted Dubliner was not initially in a hurry to check the draw results: “I was actually walking around with the ticket in my wallet for a few weeks before I even checked it and realised just how much it was worth. When I did eventually check the ticket on my phone, I couldn’t believe it. I got the message to say that I had won a big prize but never expected this. Even after I called the National Lottery to confirm the win, I was almost waiting for them to tell me that this was all a big mistake and that I hadn’t won the top prize at all – I’m glad to say that didn’t happen!”

The winner is going to take his time in deciding what to do next: “I will definitely be taking a holiday to celebrate as soon as it’s safe to do so – I’m sure most people are looking forward to getting away after the past year. I plan to take my time in thinking what else to do but the good fortune will definitely be put to good use.”

The next winner was a Laois man who claimed the €250,000 top prize from the Lotto Plus 2 draw on 14th April. The winning ticket was purchased at the Corrib Oil service station in Fairgreen in Portlaoise. The Midlands winner won their quarter of million euro prize on the same night that the €12.7 million jackpot was won in Kilkenny.

The Laois man admitted to being overwhelmed when he realized just how lucky his ticket had been: “I checked my ticket the next morning using the National Lottery app. When it said that I had won a big prize, I went through the Lotto results to see which prize it could be. I looked at the main draw first and saw that the €12.7 million jackpot had been won so wondered what other prizes could have been won that night. When I got to Lotto Plus 2 and saw that my numbers matched, I was in total shock. A wave of emotion took over as I compared my ticket over and over.”

The Midlands winner added: “I have never won anything like this before so it really is a life-changing amount – I really never thought I’d be able to say that I won €250,000!”

Meanwhile, tonight’s Lotto jackpot is set to roll to an estimated €4 million.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. In total more than €5.8 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 33 years ago. In 2020 alone, €254 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
