Celebration time for National Lottery players from Dublin & Limerick who claim a share of €1 million in prizes

Two National Lottery top prizes of €500,000 which are claimed in two different games were won on the same night!

It was a day to remember for lucky National Lottery players from Dublin and Limerick who have officially claimed €500,000 each following their respective wins in the EuroMillions and Daily Million games on Friday 2nd July.

The first prize of the night was won by an online syndicate in Dublin who got their July off to a great start after scooping the top prize of €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw. While the lucky winners have chosen to remain anonymous, they discussed the surprise they had when they checked their ticket. The syndicate leader said: “I didn’t realise that we had won until the next day and then when I told the others about the win, I had to really convince them that I was telling the truth. No one was believing me straight away so you can imagine the Whatsapp messages. Of course, they eventually came around and we’re all absolutely delighted now. It’s great news and such a perfect time for it as well with summer and things getting back to a bit of normality too.”

The second €500,000 winner of the night won their top prize in the 9pm Daily Million Plus draw on Friday 2nd July after purchasing their winning ticket in the Amber Service Station on the Old Cork Road in Limerick.

The Treaty county player admitted that it took some time to take the win in: “I checked my ticket the next morning but it probably took 3 or 4 days before it really registered. I must have been in a total daze for those few days. You never expect that when you check your ticket, you actually will win a prize like that – as much as you might hope to!”

The Limerick player has a clear idea of what they would like to do first with the win: “A holiday is top of the list, that’s for sure! I think everyone is eager to get away after the past year so I’m looking forward to planning a trip soon. It’ll be the perfect way to celebrate as well.”

Meanwhile, excitement continues to build as Saturday’s Lotto jackpot heads for an incredible €7.5 million (est). The current jackpot has been rolling since Wednesday 9th June and the next winner will become the sixth Lotto jackpot winner of 2021.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 34 years ago. In 2020 alone, €254 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
