The last month of the year saw Lotto players win even bigger prizes than usual for the third month in a row due to the capped Lotto jackpot of €19,060,800. As the additional funds that would usually go to the jackpot were distributed to the Match 5+Bonus and Match 5 prize tiers throughout the month, this meant that 57 players from all over the country enjoyed boosted prize funds in December.

The Wednesday 1st December draw saw 26 players from 13 counties share a boosted prize fund at the Match 5 prize tier. As there were no Match 5+Bonus winners in the first draw of the month, this resulted in the additional funds flowing down to the Match 5 prize tier with each winner going on to claim the cool sum of €29,345.
An online player in Limerick became a Lotto millionaire in the next draw on Saturday 4th December after purchasing their ticket online. The Treaty County player matched five numbers and the bonus to win a life-changing €1,034,454. On Wednesday 8th December, three players from Kildare, Limerick and Wexford also matched five numbers and the bonus to go on and win an incredible €237,394 each. The Kildare and Limerick winners purchased their tickets online to scoop their share while the Wexford winner purchased their winning ticket at the Lidl store on Arklow Street in Gorey, Co. Wexford.
Over 171,000 players across Ireland won prizes in the Saturday 11th December draw including two players from Dublin and Donegal who shared the Match 5+Bonus prize fund worth a massive €915,150. The Dublin player purchased their winning ticket at the Spar store in Castleknock Village while the Donegal player won their €458,075 share after purchasing their ticket at Gallagher’s Newsagents on Butcher Street in Lifford, Co. Donegal.
Three players from Kerry, Limerick and Westmeath were the biggest winners of the night in the Wednesday 15th December draw after matching five numbers and the bonus to win €283,017 each. The Limerick winner purchased their winning ticket at Moloneys on the Main Street in Broadford while the Kerry and Westmeath winners both won their share of the Match 5 + Bonus prize fund after purchasing their winning tickets online.
A Lotto player in Mullingar matched five numbers and the bonus in the weekend draw on 18th December to officially become a Lotto millionaire. The Westmeath player won the life-changing amount of €1,007,815 after purchasing their winning ticket at Rochforts Superstore on Dominick Street in Mullingar.
A North County Dublin player was celebrating after the 22nd December draw after matching five numbers and the bonus to win an incredible €799,664. The winner purchased their winning ticket at Gough’s family run store in the centre of Garristown village.
The final two Lotto draws of 2021 saw players at the Match 5 prize tier enjoy boosted prize funds due to the roll down from the Lotto jackpot. On Saturday 25th December, 36 players all over the country matched five numbers to win €22,778 each while on Wednesday 29th December, 17 players shared the Match 5 prize fund to win €40,224 each.
We saw two Lotto Plus 2 top prize winners during the month of December from Dublin and Kerry. The Dublin winner scooped their €250,000 prize in the 18th December draw after purchasing their winning ticket at the Centra shop in Greendale Shopping Centre in Kilbarrack, Dublin 5. The Kerry winner won their top prize amount in the next Lotto draw on 22nd December after purchasing their ticket online at www.lottery.ie.
Kerry, Mayo and Roscommon were home to the biggest EuroMillions winners of the month who all won the top prize of €500,000 in three separate EuroMillions Plus draws. The Mayo player became the first of the big EuroMillions winners during December after winning the top prize amount in the Friday 17th December draw. The Maritime County player purchased their winning ticket at the Dalton Service Station (Corrib Oil) on the Ring Road in Castlebar, Co. Mayo. A EuroMillions player in the Castlerea area of Roscommon had reason for Tuesday night celebrations after winning €500,000 in the 21st December draw. The winning ticket was purchased at the Corrib Oil Service Station on St. Patrick’s Street in Castlerea, Co. Roscommon. The following week, a player in Kerry had similar luck after purchasing their top prize winning ticket at Hussey’s Shop on Prince Street in Tralee, Co. Kerry for the penultimate EuroMillions Plus draw of the year on Tuesday 28th December.
A Daily Million player in Waterford got their weekend off to an incredible start on Friday 10th December after scooping the top prize of €500,000 in the afternoon 2pm Daily Millions Plus draw. The Waterford winner became the biggest December Daily Million winner after purchasing their winning ticket at Veales’s Supermarket in the village of Lemybrien.
The year came to a close with the highly anticipated Millionaire Raffle draw which saw 6,210 players across the country win prizes of between €500 and €1 million. A Millionaire Raffle ticket holder in the Summerhill area of Meath ended the year as a National Lottery millionaire after scooping the top prize of €1 million in the New Year’s Eve draw. The winning ticket was purchased at Scally’s Centra in Summerhill, Co. Meath. The 31st December draw saw four players from Carlow, Dublin and Tipperary win €100,000 each. The Carlow player purchased their winning ticket online at www.lottery.ie while the two Dublin players won their top tier prizes after purchasing their tickets at the Tesco in Stillorgan Shopping Centre and Cravens XL in Baldoyle Shopping Centre. The Tipperary winner bought their winning ticket at the Tesco on Borrisokane Road in Nenagh. As well as the incredible top tier prizes, the Millionaire Raffle draw saw 10 prizes of €10,000, 30 prizes of €5,000, 165 prizes of €1,000 and 6,000 prizes of €500.
