Winners Round Up – August 2022

August was a truly memorable month for National Lottery players all over Ireland, which saw five new Lottery Millionaires made in four weeks! This included one Lotto Jackpot win and four millionaires in the EuroMillions ‘Ireland Only Raffle’.

The month kicked off to an exciting start on Wednesday 3rd of August when a group of Galway City Council Street cleaners scooped the lotto jackpot prize of a whopping €5,541,001! The ten-man syndicate was formed almost twenty-five years ago, with all numbers chosen for the draw individual to all the members. One syndicate member spoke of how they had to keep the belief going after so many years; “The lads thought about changing the numbers at one stage but decided against making any changes. Just last Christmas, one member mentioned that he was going to leave the syndicate, but he was persuaded to stay on and was told it was only the price of a pint and a newspaper. Luckily, he stayed as the syndicate winning numbers appeared on the August 3rd Lottery draw”, he said. The large syndicate have become Ireland’s 7th Lotto Jackpot of the year. The winning ticket was sold in Newspoint newsagent, Unit 25, Galway Shopping Centre, on the Headford Road on Sunday 31st of July. 

In the same draw a player from Mayo matched five numbers and the bonus to win €40,680. The winning quick pick plus ticket was sold on the day of the draw in Applegreen Foxford, Ballina Road, Co Mayo.

The next lotto draw took place three days later Saturday 6th of August, where two players from Monaghan and Wexford matched five numbers and the bonus to split a prize worth €49,812. The player from Monaghan bought their quick pick ticket worth €24,906 on the day of the draw in McNally’s XL, Cootehill Road, Monaghan. The Wexford player purchased their quick pick ticket worth €24,906 on the day of the draw in Butler’s post office, 95-97 North Main Street, Wexford.

On Saturday 20th of August, a player from Dublin successfully matched five numbers and the bonus to scoop a whopping €177,583 . The winning normal play ticket was purchased on the day of the draw in Circle K Belgard Rd Tallaght, Dublin 24.

On Wednesday 31st of August another player managed to match five numbers and the bonus – this time winning a handsome €132,387. The winning quick pick with plus ticket was sold on the day of the draw in Jordan’s Centra store in Killinarden, Tallaght, Dublin 24.


August was a very busy and successful month for Irish EuroMillions players all over the country.

Four new millionaires were made in the EuroMillions special ‘Ireland only Raffle.’ This kicked off on Friday 5th of August a player from Co. Sligo became the first millionaire of the special raffle, after purchasing their winning ticket worth €1,005,000 million in The Regional Stores, Ballinode in Co. Sligo. The winner, who wishes to keep their win private, spoke of their shock when they realised, they’d won the live-changing prize: “I was walking around with this ticket in my pocket for a full week not realising how much it was worth!  I couldn’t believe it when I was told it was over €1million! You know, you always dream about winning but you never think it’s actually going to be you. I’ve no big plans yet for the money but it’s definitely going to take the pressure off as the cost of living has gone so expensive”, they said.  

The second millionaire was made on Friday 12th of August, when a player from Co. Tipperary purchased the winning quick pick ticket worth €1 million online or through the National Lottery App. The winner who also wishes to keep their win private, is looking forward to celebrating with family: “When I found out I’d just become a millionaire, I had to sit down! I just couldn’t get my head around it, I still can’t! I’m looking forward to taking the family on a well- deserved holiday. We’re thinking of maybe going to Dubai and doing it a proper 5-star luxury style holiday”, they said.   

On Friday 19th of August, a player from Co. Galway become the third millionaire after purchasing their winning ticket worth €1,005,000 on the day of the draw in Costcutter, Bealadangan, Co. Galway. 

And on the 26th of August a winner from Kildare rounded up the month as the fourth millionaire made in the special EuroMillions, ‘Ireland Only Raffle’, after purchasing their ticket worth €1,005,000 online or on the National Lottery App.

Also in the month of August, three Irish players scooped the EuroMillions plus top prize of €500,000. The first winner was from Co. Kildare on Tuesday 9th of August. The player purchased their ticket three days before the draw on Saturday 6th of August in News 4 U based in Glenroyal Shopping Centre, Maynooth, Co Kildare.

It was a big night for Irish winners in Friday night’s (12th August) EuroMillions draw which seen over 55,000 players win prizes. Among those prize winners was another Dublin player who scooped the top prize of €500,000 in the EuroMillions Plus draw. The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at the Tesco store in Liffey Valley in Clondalkin on the day of the draw.

On Friday 12th August a player from Dublin was the second to take home the EuroMillions plus top prize after purchasing their quick pick ticket on the day of the draw in Tesco Liffey Valley, Fonthill Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22.

One week later Friday 19th of August, Nuala Croke became the third Irish player of the month to scoop the EuroMillions top prize of €500,000. The Wexford native brought her large family and friends to National Lottery HQ to celebrate the big win and collect the handsome prize. She revealed the story behind the winning ticket: “I went into the shop to pick up some bread, milk and a packet of biscuits. I had a few bob left over so I purchased one line of a EuroMillions plus ticket. When the winning shop was announced, I didn’t think I won because I’d convinced myself I’d bought it in another shop. My friend Bridget told me to go check my ticket, she had a feeling I was the winner, and when I went to look for the ticket – I couldn’t find it anywhere!”, she recounted. “It was only a couple of days later, low and behold I found the ticket in my purse. So, I gathered some friends together in my house and I rang the National Lottery Claims Department. That’s when they informed me my ticket was worth €500,000! Well the entire room erupted roaring and cheering it was just electric”, she added.

Nuala Croke purchased the winning quick pick ticket on the day of the draw in Corrigan’s Spar Supermarket, Main Street, Oulert, Gorey, Co. Wexford.

On Friday 5th of August a player from Co. Meath won the match 5 prize worth €32,589. Gala, they purchased their quick pick ticket on the day of the draw in The Brink Service Station, Rathdrinagh, Beauparc, Navan, Co. Meath.

A player from Co. Mayo matched five numbers in the EuroMillions draw on Tuesday 23rd of August, to scoop €152,670. The winning Normal Play ticket was sold on the 9th of August in Hoban’s, Centra, The Quay Westport, Co Mayo

And on Friday 26th of August a player from Dublin matched five numbers in the EuroMillions draw to score €143, 631. The winning quick pick ticket was purchased in Spar on the Ballyfermot Road, Dublin 10.


On Thursday 18th of August, a Daily Million player from Co. Kildare matched five numbers and the bonus on two separate tickets both worth €10,000. The player purchased their tickets with a combined value of €20,000 online or on the National Lottery app. An online player in Co. Cork matched five numbers and the bonus to scoop €10,000 in the 9pm Daily Million draw on Tuesday 23rd of August. 


August was a big month for scratch card players all over the country with eleven players sharing an incredible €1,035,000. This included a €75,000 prize won on an All-Cash Platinum card purchased at Londis, Church Street, Glenamaddy, Co Galway. €25,000 was won on a Money Multiplier ticket sold at Ballylynch service station, Waterford Road, Carrick-on-Suir, Co. Tipperary. Two Cork players enjoyed wins off scratch cards this month, including a €50,000 win on an All-Cash Extravaganza sold at Supervalu, Holyhill Shopping Centre, Cork and €30,000 on a Crossword Doubler purchased at Hennessy’s, White Cross, Cork City. Two Dublin players also scooped a whopping €50,000 each on scratch cards this month, one of which was on Money Multiplier sold at Centra in Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, and the other €50,000 was on an All Cash Extavaganza sold at Londis, in Bawnogue Shopping Centre, Clondalkin, Dublin 22. A player from Wexford won €50,000 on a Mega Money Multiplier card sold at Centra on Lower Shannon Hill, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford. An amazing €500,000 was won on an All Cash Extravaganza ticket which was purchased in Applegreen in Birr, Co. Offaly. €30,000 was won on an All Cash Tripler sold at Supervalue, Adree, Co. Louth. And finally, a whopping €100,000 was won on a Money Multiplier, purchased at JD O’Sullivan and Sons store on Main Street, Kenmare, Co. Kerry
