The online Lotto player in Louth who scooped the staggering €7,129,505 Jackpot in the 18th October draw was thrilled to pick up their cheque in Lottery HQ.
The Lotto Millionaire admitted that it was a late-night scroll on the phone that led to the discovery of the win, with the entire family joining in the shock of the windfall.
“I was watching television with my husband and there wasn’t a lot happening at one point during the programme, so I did the typical thing of scrolling through my phone. It was only then that I saw the email about a win, so I checked my account and immediately turned to my husband and sheepishly said ‘I think I’ve won the Lotto’. He definitely didn’t believe me so didn’t even look away from the television as he told me that I couldn’t have! When he finally realised I wasn’t joking, the two of us were totally in shock. It was around midnight at this point, and I even rang my mother to give her the news – I think the entire family were awake until around 3am in total disbelief!”
The Louth winner has already made a very particular first purchase with the winnings and has big plans for what to do next.
“The first thing I did was buy VIP tickets to Westlife! I am counting down the days until that one and then my next dream is a holiday home in Ireland. I still can’t believe this has happened, but I am so excited to celebrate with my family.”
Also claiming their Lotto Match 5 plus Bonus prize of €122,669 from the 3rd December draw was an Ennis man, who picked up his ticket while travelling through Co. Cork. His winning ticket was purchased at Broderick’s Shop in Midleton, Co. Cork. Speaking about the win, he told the Lottery team, “I don’t usually play the Lotto, but I stopped for a drink and decided to grab a Quick Pick. A couple of days later, I scanned the ticket in the shop and heard the winning sound – I couldn’t believe it! My family didn’t believe me at first, but now that we’re here, it feels very real.” The Clare man is looking forward to upgrading his van and plans to put the remainder of the prize towards buying a house.
A Dublin man was over the moon to claim €50,000 on a €20 All Cash Millionaire Scratch Card which he purchased at Centra,197 Harold’s Cross Road, Harold’s Cross, Dublin 6W.
“This was the first time that I had seen All Cash Millionaire so said I’d give it a go. When I revealed the €50,000, it was a total goosebump moment. I told my wife immediately and I was shocked she even believed me since things like this don’t usually happen! Top of the list is a new car and then a few new appliances for the house.”
Finally, a Galway man was delighted to claim the €45,005 Snowball prize from the Telly Bingo draw on 31st October. The winning ticket was purchased at An Post in Corrandulla, Co. Galway.
“Myself and my wife were both playing the game live at the same time that day, but it was only me who had the winning ticket! The plan is to do a few home improvements now so at least we can both enjoy those.”
