A Dublin syndicate were delighted to make the trip to Lottery Headquarters to pick up their Lotto Match 5 + Bonus prize worth €404,840 from the Saturday 6th September draw. The group purchased their winning ticket at the Spar shop at 13 South Circular Road in Dublin 8 and admitted that it took some work to convince all of the syndicate members that they had the winning ticket.
“A few of the members thought that I was sharing bad news because I started the call by asking were they sitting down. Then others couldn’t stop laughing because they thought it was a wind up. I had my work cut out for me just getting them to believe it really!”
The syndicate manager was very particular about hiding the ticket which they admitted proved almost problematic.
“Keeping the ticket safe was key so I hid it behind a picture frame, however, this caused mild panic because at one point, I forgot which frame it was behind!”
When asked how they were planning to spend their winnings, jokingly one member of the syndicate said a hair transplant and some new teeth would be at the top of the list.
“Honestly though, we are all just looking forward to taking the time to enjoy this win and think about what to do next.”
Meanwhile, it could be a Monday night to remember for a EuroDreams player in Ireland with the Top Prize boosted to an incredible €30,000 per month for 30 years.
A special promotion in the game, which kicked off last Thursday, means that the Top Prize will remain boosted to €30,000 per month for 30 years until it is won. The EuroDreams Tier 1 prize is typically €20,000 per month for 30 years but during this special game event, players have the chance to win even bigger than usual.
The game mechanics remain the same, players must match all six winning numbers and the Dream number to win – now they simply have the chance to win more.
EuroDreams is the first annuity game of its’ kind ever to be seen in Ireland and unlike any other draw-based game, winners receive monthly tax-free payments instead of one lump sum. The Tier 1 prize is typically €20,000 per month for 30 years, totalling €7.2 Million. The Tier 2 prize is €2,000 per month for 5 years, totalling €120,000.
If the Top Prize is not won tonight, the boosted prize event will continue until there is a winner.
Just last month, an online player in Co. Wicklow became the first EuroDreams Irish winner of the Tier 1 prize, while eight Tier 2 winners have also won prizes in Dublin (4), Kerry (2), Cork (1) and Wicklow (1).
EuroDreams is played in eight countries, namely Ireland, Austria, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland, with draws taking place every Monday and Thursday evening. Tickets are available to purchase at National Lottery agents nationwide, online or at www.lottery.ie or through the National Lottery app.
