Clare Lotto Plus Player Collects €1 Million Top Prize

A Lotto Plus player from Co. Clare has claimed €1 Million in a special Guaranteed Millionaire event on 5th September in the Lotto Plus draw. The winning ticket was purchased at Spar Lisdoonvarna, Lisdoonvarna, Co. Clare on the day of the draw, the same weekend as the famous Lisdoonvarna match making festival.

The player unknowingly carried the ticket around with them for some time. "I never thought to check my ticket," the winner said. "I'd been driving around with it all the time without realising it was worth €1 million."

When the ticket was eventually checked, the news came as a huge shock. The winner immediately shared the discovery with family and loved ones, prompting an emotional response. "There were tears of joy," they recalled.

Speaking at National Lottery headquarters while collecting the prize, the Clare player said they're still processing the win and are looking forward to taking some time to let it all sink in. "I'm looking forward to breathing and taking it all in," they said.

While there are no immediate plans to make any dramatic changes, the winner is excited about the opportunities that the prize presents. Holidays are high on the wish list, while a dream home is also firmly in their sights.

And that was not the only big win for Co. Clare, as another Clare player claimed their €42,031 Match 5 and Bonus prize in the Lotto draw on the 9th September. The winning ticket was purchased at Clancy's Centra, Loughville, Lahinch Road, Ennis, Co. Clare. The win came during the same week that thousands of golf fans descended on the county for the Irish Open weekend.

Recalling the moment they discovered the win, the player said: "I was driving by, stopped in to refuel and picked up a Quick Pick. I didn't think much of it at the time. In fact, I had the ticket for a few days before I realised I was carrying around a prize worth €42,031! You can imagine the shock to the system when I realised I had been carrying this ticket around without knowing how much it was worth!"

When asked how they plan on spending their prize money, the winner stated that “there are no major plans just yet, but I'm certainly going to enjoy thinking about them."

Meanwhile, a Dublin player claimed a €21,756 Match 5 prize after matching five numbers and the bonus in the Lotto draw on 12th September. The winning ticket was purchased at Tesco Ireland, Trinity Central, Pearse Street, Dublin 2.

Speaking at National Lottery HQ, the player said:
"I checked my numbers on the night of the draw. I was counting them down one by one, then suddenly it was three numbers, four numbers and they just kept matching. I couldn't believe it. For a moment, I genuinely thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest!"

The winner already has a special use in mind for some of the prize money. “As we're coming out of summer, I'd love to head back to the sun and enjoy a holiday with some of the prize money. It's a lovely thing to be able to look forward to!”
