Could YOU be the first Lotto Jackpot winner of 2024? Saturday’s Lotto Jackpot heads towards a life-changing €12.5 Million Estimated

Lotto players raise over €19.5 Million for Good Causes in current Jackpot roll

This weekend’s Lotto draw could see someone in Ireland crowned as the first Lotto Jackpot winner of 2024 if the truly life-changing €12.5 Million (estimated) Jackpot is won on Saturday night.

As well as taking the highly coveted title of first Jackpot winner of the year, the potential winner would also take up the position of 14th highest Lotto Jackpot winner ever to be seen in Ireland.

In 2023, there were 12 Lotto Jackpot winners throughout the year and 22 Millionaires made across the Lotto and Lotto Plus games.

The most recent Lotto Jackpot winner was an online player in Laois who scooped the €2,294,855 Jackpot on offer in the Wednesday 11th October draw. Since the current Jackpot roll began on Saturday 14th October, National Lottery players have raised over €19.5 Million across Lotto and Lotto Plus for Good Causes. During the same period, Lotto players have so far won over €8.2 Million in prizes in the main Lotto game while additionally, almost €8.9 Million has been won in the Lotto Plus games.

The National Lottery are reminding players nationwide who are dreaming of big celebrations on Saturday night that tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie of the 7:45pm cut-off time for sales on Saturday evening.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “This truly could be a life-changing weekend for a Lotto player in Ireland. With an estimated €12.5 Million up for grabs in Saturday night’s draw, huge excitement is growing amongst our players dreaming of becoming the first Lotto Jackpot winner of 2024. Don’t forget that tickets can be purchased in-store nationwide, through our app and at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7:45pm cut-off time for sales on Saturday evening.”

“Following on from media reports this morning regarding a cap on the number of times that the Lotto Jackpot can roll over, we are keen to remind our players that there is a cap in place following the updated rules that were introduced to the game after the historic roll which took place from June to October in 2021. Our players are sure to remember back to October 2021 when the Lotto Jackpot was capped at the highest figure we have ever seen in the game when it reached the astonishing amount of €19.06 Million. Following this historic roll, game changes were implemented, with the approval of the Regulator of the National Lottery, to ensure that in the future, if the Lotto jackpot exceeds the €19.06 Million cap, it will remain capped for a maximum of five draws and if there is no outright Jackpot winner on the fifth draw at cap, the entire Jackpot fund flows down to the next prize tier with a winner. These game changes are still valid and operating in the game today, should we ever reach that Jackpot amount again. While we are not quite at the €19.06 Million figure yet, we are keen to reassure and remind our players that the Jackpot cap is still applicable”.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total, more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 36 years ago. In 2022 alone, €259.5 Million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
