Lotto has changed!
Saturday’s draw marks the start of a new era with Less Balls and More Millionaires
3/09/2026
The National Lottery has today announced that this Saturday’s Lotto draw, which will mark the first draw since the official retirement of Lotto balls 46 and 47, will see one Lotto Plus player GUARANTEED to win €1 million.
This weekend’s special Guaranteed Millionaire event will celebrate the first draw of the refreshed Lotto format which will now include only 45 Lotto balls. It has also been confirmed that there will be even more additional prizes up for grabs for Lotto Plus winners on Saturday night.
Every ticket, which includes Plus, that wins a prize on either of the Lotto Plus One or Lotto Plus Two draws on Saturday night will be in with a chance of winning an additional prize.
How will the Guaranteed Millionaire and additional prizes be won? Every Lotto Plus ticket that wins a prize on either of the Lotto Plus draws on Saturday night will be entered into a special draw. One ticket will then be selected to win a Guaranteed €1 million, in addition to their original prize amount. Each of the remaining winning Lotto Plus One and Lotto Plus Two tickets will be entered into a secondary draw, where 43 tickets will be randomly selected to win an additional amount of €10,092, on top of their original prize. How will Lotto Plus winners know if they have won an additional prize? When winners’ check their retail-purchased tickets, either on the app or in-store, they will be advised to contact the National Lottery to learn more about the status of their ticket. They should then call the Prize Claims team on 1800 666 222 and their exact prize amount will be confirmed.
For online Lotto Plus winners who win an additional prize, the Prize Claims team will contact them directly. National Lottery spokesperson Sarah Orr said:
“It's official. 46 and 47 have left the drum, and a brand-new Lotto chapter is about to begin. To celebrate this exciting milestone, we're giving Lotto Plus players even more chances to win big on Saturday night.”
“Every Lotto Plus player who wins a prize on either Lotto Plus 1 or Lotto Plus 2 will automatically be entered into a celebratory draw, where one ticket will receive an incredible €1 million on top of their original prize. That's not all. A further 43 winning tickets will each receive an additional €10,092, making this a truly memorable night for Lotto Plus players.”
Lotto players hoping to be celebrating this weekend are reminded that tickets are now on sale and can be purchased nationwide in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7.45pm cut-off time for sales on Saturday evening.
