Na Gaeil CLG in Tralee wins Irish Language award at 2025 National Lottery Good Causes Awards!
20/10/2025
Tralee-based Na Gaeil CLG has been named the Irish Language winner at the 2025 National Lottery Good Causes Awards, in recognition of its outstanding work in promoting the Irish language through sport, culture and community initiatives.
Na Gaeil CLG has become a shining example of how GAA clubs can foster a deeper appreciation of the Irish language by making it an integral part of everyday club life. From running language classes to encouraging members to use Irish on and off the pitch, the club is ensuring that the language thrives for future generations.
The National Lottery Good Causes Awards celebrate inspiring organisations and individuals across Ireland who benefit from Good Causes part-funding. This year’s ceremony took place at Killashee House Hotel, Co. Kildare on Saturday, 18th October 2025, hosted by Marty Whelan.
The Irish Language award was presented to Na Gaeil CLG by broadcaster and proud Kerry native Daithí O’Sé, who is also Chair of this year’s judging panel.
Daithí O’Sé, broadcaster and Chair of the 2025 Judging Panel, said: “Na Gaeil CLG are true champions of the Irish language. What makes their work so impressive is how they have woven the language into the fabric of their club, not as something separate, but as something living, breathing, and celebrated every day. They’re inspiring young people to use Irish in ways that feel natural and fun, and that’s how the language will thrive into the future.”
Na Gaeil CLG received a prize of €10,000 as category winners.
Cian Murphy, Chief Executive of the National Lottery, congratulated Na Gaeil CLG and all of the 2025 winners:
