Friday’s EuroMillions Jackpot is heading for a record-breaking €240 Million estimated!

 

Jackpot fever is taking over the country ahead of Friday’s (8th December) EuroMillions draw which is estimated to head towards the record-breaking €240 Million Jackpot cap. 

Ahead of tomorrow night’s draw, excitement has been growing for players nationwide. National Lottery Retailer of the Year, Geoff Scally of Scally’s Centra in Summerhill, admitted that there has been an uplift of customers popping into his store this week to buy tickets in the lead up to Friday’s draw. 

“It’s certainly not everyday that you see a jackpot estimated to hit the €240 Million mark and it really has created a huge buzz amongst our customers. There has been a noticeable increase in players purchasing tickets this week as I suppose we all want to dream about winning such a massive amount.” 

“Having sold a Lotto jackpot ticket last year worth over €4 Million and the €1 Million Millionaire Raffle ticket just a few weeks before that, our regular customers are well aware of our history is selling large tickets. Here’s hoping we might see one of our customers win big this weekend – imagine a €240 Million win! It’s hard to even comprehend such an amount but it really would be the best time of year for it. We’re seeing a lot of people on the wind down now with work in the lead up to Christmas. The countdown really is on for the big day so I’m sure EuroMillions players are dreaming of how Christmas would be with a life-changing win like this,” he said.

If a single winner was to win the estimated €240 Million jackpot this Friday, they will officially become the largest Lottery winner ever to be seen in Europe.  

Under the EuroMillions community rules, when the Jackpot is capped, any excess which would normally be allocated to the Jackpot will flow down to the next prize tier at which there will be more winners. 

A National Lottery spokesperson has reminded players that tickets can be purchased in-store, through the National Lottery or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7:30pm cut-off time for sales on Friday evening. 

“Could this weekend be hugely life-changing for a EuroMillions player in Ireland? The draw looks set to be record-breaking as we head towards the highest amount ever to be seen in the game. And of course, if Friday’s Jackpot does hit the €240 Million cap, there could be larger than normal prize winners at the next winning tier.” 

“With just over 24 hours to go until the big draw, players dreaming of a celebratory weekend are reminded that tickets can be purchased nationwide in-store, through the National Lottery app or at www.lottery.ie ahead of the 7:30pm cut-off time for sales on Friday evening.” 

So far this year, the EuroMillions game has seen six players in Ireland win prizes worth €1 Million in special Raffle events which were held in February, July and October.

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. In total more than €6 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 36 years ago. In 2022 alone, €259.5 Million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
