Attention Monaghan Lotto players! Emyvale winner yet to come forward to claim €1 million Raffle prize

Online player in Dublin claims Lotto Plus 2 top prize

The National Lottery are continuing to urge Lotto players in Monaghan to check their tickets very carefully from the 19th August draw which saw one Emyvale player become a millionaire.

The Lotto Plus Raffle typically sees between 60 and 120 winners of €500 in every draw but that particular draw saw ONE player enjoy an even higher windfall due to a special Raffle event.

Each of the tickets with the winning Lotto Plus Raffle number drawn in the Saturday 19th August draw were entered into a once-off random draw where one ticket was selected to win an additional prize of €1 million. While every ticket holder who had the winning Raffle number won €500, one player scooped €1 million, in addition to the usual €500 prize.

The winning Raffle number was: 3249

The winning Quick Pick ticket was purchased on Thursday 17th August at Centra on Main Street in Emyvale, Co. Monaghan.

Shop owner Glyn Williams is now encouraging all of his customers to check their tickets as soon as possible as one player is now a millionaire: “It’s been three weeks since the big draw and there’s still a lot of excitement around the town about the win. We have had customers in to congratulate us for selling the golden ticket and of course to check their own tickets. We just hope that the winner does make contact with the National Lottery soon and collect their prize. They might not even know that they have a ticket that’s now worth €1 million. If they haven’t realized their luck just yet, they are in for a huge surprise!”

Ticketholders have 90 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize which means that the deadline for this prize is close of business on Friday 17th November.

Meanwhile, an online player in Dublin got his week off to a celebratory start in Lotto HQ after collecting a cheque worth €250,000. The winner scooped the top prize amount in the Lotto Plus 2 draw on Saturday 2nd September.

The online player, who waited just over a week to pick up his winnings, admitted he was in disbelief initially when he got the notification about the win.

“I saw the email telling me that I had won so I logged into the app to take a look. When I saw that my balance was still the same, I was thinking that maybe because it was a weekend, the app might not have updated. I decided to check the ticket itself just in case I was missing something and there it was in big green writing - €250,000! When I saw it first, I read it as €2,500 but then I kept looking and it finally sunk in that it was actually €250,000.”

The top prize winner admitted that he does not always buy his tickets online but was certainly delighted that he decided to this time.

“I sometimes buy my tickets online but I do enjoy buying them in the shop. I usually take my time to even check my tickets as I quite like hearing if a winning ticket might have been sold in the shop where I have bought mine – at least then I can hope and dream that I’m still in with a chance of being the winner. This time there was no need for dreaming!”

The Dublin winner plans to take his time to decide what to do with his recent windfall.
