Lotto players throughout Ireland have a cracking chance of scooping an early Christmas present, by sharing in Saturday’s Lotto Plus Raffle prize of a guaranteed to be won €1 million - which is on top of the rolling €3.5 million Lotto jackpot already on offer.

To celebrate the festive season, the National Lottery is adding €1 million to the Lotto Plus Raffle prize fund which typically sees between 80 and 120 winners of €500 in every draw. By topping up the raffle prize fund by €1 million, the National Lottery predicts that each winner of Saturday’s Lotto Plus Raffle draw will receive between €8,000 - €12,500.

It has been a bumper year for Lotto players in Ireland with over €132 million won in prizes. So far this year, a total of 18 new millionaires have been made through Lotto and Lotto Plus games while 11 separate jackpot winners have claimed over €60 million between them. The biggest Lotto jackpot win of 2020 was over €10.7 million which was won in Rochestown, on the outskirts of Cork city on Wednesday 2nd December.

Speaking ahead of Saturday’s bumper giveaway Lotto draw, a National Lottery spokesperson said: “Saturday’s Lotto jackpot is rolling towards €3.5 million which would be the perfect boost for anybody’s bank balance just before Christmas. Not only that, by topping up the raffle prize fund by a guaranteed to be won €1 million, we predict that each Lotto Plus Raffle winner in Saturday’s draw will receive between €8,000 - €12,500. That’s a fantastic prize for our players just in time for Christmas, perfect for those last minute gift purchases!”

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage and the Irish Language. In total more than €5.8 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 33 years ago. In 2019 alone, €252 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
