Tonight’s €12.5 million (est) Lotto jackpot is the highest Lotto jackpot in four years

The National Lottery urges Lotto players to follow social distancing measures when purchasing tickets for the biggest draw of 2021

The National Lottery has confirmed that tonight’s €12.5 million (estimated) Lotto jackpot is the highest Lotto jackpot in almost four years. The current Lotto jackpot has been rolling since Saturday 30th January and the National Lottery has confirmed that an incredible €20.8 million will have been raised for Good Causes in the current Lotto jackpot roll-over series alone. For over 33 years, this fund has been allocated to support worthwhile causes and local community projects all over Ireland.

Since the Lotto game was launched in 1988, only 26 jackpots in excess of €10 million have been won. Could we see this total rise to 27 after tonight’s Lotto draw?

One lucky player could become the biggest Lotto winner of 2021 and Ireland’s newest multi-millionaire by winning the life-altering amount in tonight’s midweek draw.

As tonight’s €12.5 million (estimated) Lotto draw gets closer, the National Lottery are appealing to players to follow the guidelines in place and to avoid queues in shops by purchasing their tickets early and safely.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “This could be a very happy Wednesday for one lucky Lotto player as the jackpot rolls towards an estimated €12.5 million. This is the largest Lotto jackpot that we have seen in almost four years, so we are expecting an increase of interest from our players in the hours leading up to the draw tonight. We are urging all of our Lotto players to purchase their tickets early and to continue to follow the social distancing measures in place while doing so. We remind players that tickets can be purchased in-store, in-app or on www.lottery.ie before the 7.45pm deadline tonight.”

Nearly 30 cent in every €1 spent on all National Lottery games goes back to Good Causes in the areas of sport, youth, health, welfare, education, arts, heritage, and the Irish Language. In total more than €5.8 Billion has been raised for Good Causes since the National Lottery was established 33 years ago. In 2020 alone, €254 million was raised for local Good Causes in communities across Ireland.
