Mayo Mountain Rescue Team

Mayo Mountain Rescue Team is a voluntary search and rescue organisation that has been providing emergency cover across Co. Mayo for over 30 years. A team of trained volunteers responds to callouts across mountains, uplands and remote terrain at any hour and in any weather, 365 days a year. Beyond their emergency work, the team delivers first aid and CPR training to people across Mayo so that more lives can be saved closer to home.

Mayo Mountain Rescue Team are Sport & Wellness Legends for building a stronger, safer community across Mayo and beyond. For more than three decades, this dedicated volunteer mountain rescue organisation have provided a vital emergency service for the mountains and hills across Mayo.

While judges admired their bravery and commitment on the frontline, what truly stood out was how they have extended their impact beyond rescue operations. Through first aid and CPR training programmes, they have equipped local people with lifesaving skills, fostering a spirit of resilience, shared responsibility and community care that strengthens and saves lives.
